A strange detail on the uniform of US paras

I don’t know what this ribbon is for, but I’m more interested in why absolutely every American paratrooper has a clearly visible red spot on the ribbon on his right leg?

If you look closely at the left leg, you can see a much less distinct reddish spot.

I’m just curious what this is and why. I was starting to think it was some kind of bloody ritual the paratroopers borrowed from their Indian counterparts.

C. could be just a paratrooper leg strap to keep pouches sealed without all stuff flying around in your pockets as you descend.

D. just a strap cutted from the actual parachute.
as were used for all sort of things. ropes, bandages, scarfs etc.

in which, judging by a lack of metal pieces, as it’s just “tied”, leads me to believe it’s D.

But the origin of these red spots remains unclear. And why are these spots on every soldier in a paratrooper uniform?

Or is this a remnant of some unrealized system of random skins for this tape, from which only this version with red spots remains?

well, it’s kinda a smaller detail.

pretty much like every soldier wearing coats have volkssturm tabs.

either oversight, or… again, not many would notice / care / mind.

Well, let this be a little hook for conspiracy theories.

The para plane that they jump out of must have some protruding piece of metal in the doorway that they get hit by
