A special suggestion for the Dev team

Dear Darkflow,
During Christmas break, I have an idea that would improve your mapmaking abilities.

During the Christmas/New Year holidays, Steam is known to cut their prices by 90%. The dev team should buy Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm and play it over the break. When remaking the Stalingrad and Pacific (Guadalcanal) maps, you will better understand what to create, edit, and leave alone in the current maps.

Red Orchestra 2’s developers had done tons of research with maps and historical testimonies and even traveled to take pictures of the inside of tanks to make a better game. You will not have to do any of this since the work is already done for you VIA Red Orchestra 2/ Rising Storm.

Play as many maps as possible and take as many mental notes as possible. Notice how the streets look when you are navigating them. When in large buildings, pay attention to the infrastructure and architecture. When in the Pacific, pay attention to the placement of where defenses are set up.

When you return from your vacation, you will know precisely how to make future maps and fix present maps.

But more importantly, do not let this interrupt family events, as that is not the goal of this homework. This is meant to be a fun homework assessment, not a time-consuming one. Merry Christmas, dev team. Have a good break.

Stalingrad and berlin are pretty well made. My only complaints are that the buildings are too small

Eh

There aren’t sewers, the buildings are too close, and Univermag looks nothing like a store on the inside. I can’t say much for Berlin, as I am not as familiar with it besides Seelow Heights.

I agree that the interiors of univermag need to be improved

Personally, I think we should have 2 versions of the map of the main city, the one we currently have located in 1942 and one with a lot of snow (same as the red orchestra one) with a modified univermag with many sandbags and paulus bunker paraphernalia located in 1943

Regarding the sewers, I think that if this variation of univermag 42 and univermag 43 existed we could have the sewers open like in red orchestra only in version 43 (as you see on the photo, the fallen fighter square was not attacked and its sewers still in good condition

They clearly put more work in Berlin maps than sgrad.

True, now compare Stalingrad to Guadalcanal :sob:

They just butchered guadalcanal. No henderson field, too many buildings, cramped map, and unrealistic elevations

Look how far the rubble stretches onto the road. Also, why are there so many missing building complexes on the Enlisted map?

Stalingrad hotel would be nice

There were no buildings until you actually got to the field. It was only trenches, an outpost, and Coconut groves with a creek that was literally knee-deep, not waist-deep (unless you tried to wade through the ocean, which the Japs did.
