My one in a million shot happened a couple years ago in my German Kfz. 251/9 APC in Tunisia. I was rolling up a hill getting ready to dump my troops off, when a plane came swooping down from behind me and as he pulled up he flew right into my gun sights, so one click of the mouse and “BOOM”, one destroyed plane from my howitzer.

Hmmm not sure about 1 in a million shot…
If you kill the pilot, the plane also ‘dies’ but you didnt kill the pilot.
If you hit the plane and it should get destroyed, the pilot also dies but he didnt die.
So I think you shot at the plane earlier and hit it, and the pilot bailed out just when you took this last shot, giving you only the kill for the vehicle.
Edit: checked the replay: yup he just bailed out.

Lol, mine was with pz3J few planes was harrassing me in stalingrad and when one of them tried to fly low to bomb me I decided to shoot him with my 50mm gun. and safe to say, he didn’t survive from 50mm to his face xD

Well, the interesting thing is, it is the exact same plane that flew right over the Tiger that I was about to hit with a TNT, so it looks like I missed my chance for a close shot, but with a plot twist 24 seconds later

The game has artificial intelligence implemented and sometimes it gets confused about who is playing 
I use three sticks of dynamite on a tiger and I don’t always destroy it but apparently I’m throwing it wrong
Now do that with a mortar and I would be impressed.
Cool, it should be possible to get the kill on a plane that way with an explosion pack

I once got killed by a mortar while flying in Berlin. The shell have hit the center of my plane lol
