A Romanian paratrooper suggestion (Either as an event or premium)

Hello there , it has been a while since I posted one of these , anyways before I start I want to let you know the weapon , squad and clothing were part of my large Romanian sub-faction suggestion which I have now abandoned , the reason for this topic in specific is the weapon which is a very rare weapon that I thought it would be wasted to not see it in the game .

With that said lets look at the squad.

A brief history of 4th Parachute Battalion

In September 1940, the Air and Navy Ministry first tossed around the idea of putting together a paratrooper unit. The next year, General Alexandru Ioanitiu, brought it up again, really pushing to make it happen. So, on June 10, 1941, Romania finally got it’s first paratrooper company up and running. Every guy in it was a volunteer, all under 28, and they had to know at least one of these languages: Russian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, or Polish. The first paratrooper company got tagged as the 8th company, picking up right after the seven balloon barrage companies. Then, in 1942, the 9th company was formed, second paratroopers company. By 1943, the 10th company came together, a heavy weapons company which was meant to support main 2 paratroopers company.

4th paratrooper battalion was made of all of the 10 companies mentioned above as well as a 11th HQ company and a Depot company.

So technically speaking Romania only had 2 Paratrooper company the 8th and 9th which were under the 4th paratrooper battalion.

Anyhow the Battalion was activated in 1944 and were deployed to Bucharest right before Romania’s withdrawal from the Axis. On August 24th, they clashed with German troops, including the Waffen SS Paratroopers from the Brandenburg Division, fighting hard to take back key airfields. With backup from the Romanian Royal Air Force, the USAAF, and other security units, they managed to halt and surround the Germans by August 28th. But soon after, the Soviet Union pushed for the battalion to be disbanded, and its soldiers were split up and sent to different units. (The unit was dissolved in February 1945 by which point 1300 Paratroopers were trained and raised)

A funny story about the unit is that , because they wore German helmets and sometimes German uniforms they were thought to be Germans by Romanian Civilian and were stoned.

3- ZB-30 LMG (A Romanian improved ZB-26 for more information check (Forgotten Weapons Video on this gun) anyways this could also work as Unique gun for this paratrooper squad but it’s not the one that I had in my mind for squad)

4-MP-40 (I don’t think this needs an explanation , you could give it to this squad as a weapon and make it , a paratrooper squad which could change its weapon like soviet ones)

5- Pignone flamethrower model 1937(A flamethrower used by the only Engineer platoon)

Weapon I had in mind

Carbine

Well looking at this weapon you might wonder what this is ? This is Orița model 1939 carbine (That would be obvious from the side of the gun which has written it )

Now what caused me to look for this gun was , I was looking for interesting guns to include in my Romanian Sub-faction TT , was checking information on Orița M1941 to see if I could find any interesting variant of it , it was for the most part fruitless except this , In Wikipedia page there was an entry about a carbine variant which cached my interest and apparently it was kept at museum so I contacted them , and got not as much as I would have hoped for but enough .

Museum doesn’t know much about the gun, either in fact they told me that all the things that they know about history of the weapon comes from the markings on the side of the weapon (Arsenalul Armatei Carabina Mitralieră Cal. 9 m/m Md.1939 Sistem Căpitan Orița Marin) which literary just translates to Army Arsenal Automatic Carbine Cal. 9 m/m M.1939 Captain Orița Marin , other than that they have also told me that they have inspected the weapon chamber and magazine , and that the weapon is chambered for 9x19 mm and not the 9x23 that Wikipedia entry mention.
I can make a guess that this gun was an early variant of Orița M1941 which was later refined to become Orița M1941.

Beside that they also pointed that it can only fire fully automatically , but it has a mechanism behind receiver cap that allows you to apparently adjust its fire-rate.

Also I assume magazine is either 20 or 25 round I forgot to ask them about that, rate of fire is obviously unknown , I doubt they wanna risk and shoot that gun to just find it’s fire rate.(Would make a good BR I squad)

My inquiry from museum

image

The photos weren’t provided by museum they only provide photos for works that are gonna be published and that is if you sign a contract with museum as there is Tax for each photo , the photos here are from a pretty much unknown YouTube video that showcased inside of museum.(I don’t think weapon itself has copyright but in any case the images are for educational purpose)

Uniforms and clothing sets

Uniform and Clothing set

This part will be easiest part as I have tons and tons of uniforms for Romanian soldiers , since I have researched on them as far as back as January (Obviously for my Romanian Sub-faction topic which is abandoned as of now) .

Anyhow I will share 1 set of clothes , that being unique and used by this troop.

Unique set

image

Well unique set is based on image above(Shows a paratrooper), lets analyze the clothing set from head to toe.

The soldier here seems to be wearing a Md.1934 Capela( Could be M34 German sidecap)the Romanian air force hat badge sewed to cap itself(Paratrooper were part of air force so this isn’t wierd)

image

The soldiers wears a blue Jump suit(Single piece) , which was inspired by flying suit worn by Romanian pilots

On the cuffs of the jumpsuit normally rank is sewed

He is wearing the badge made for paratroopers(Shared at the start of the topic) and he is wearing standard issue Romanina boots

He has a M1938 German paratrooper helmet in blue hanging from his shoulders

image

He has a belt and that belt hold Mp-40 pouches

Last words

Before I finish I wanted you to know , this squad is meant for Axis , though during the time that I was writing Romanian sub-faction topic , I was planning for this squad to be a pre-order bundle with 8 being for Axis and 9th being for Soviet’s and for soviet squad I had the PPT-27(Suppressed) in mind since I wanted low BR squads

PPT-27(S)

Anyhow I hope you enjoyed the topic.

glad you liked it.

Nope! Best we can do is give the Soviets the AK-74 with a 75 round mag at BR-2 and give Germany a MG-42 with a 1 round mag at BR V. Sorry!
