It would have to be BR2 to be compelling because the Fw 190 A-8 is similar (but better) with the same rockets in the tech tree at BR3. I’m terrified of Wfr.Gr.21 rockets in BR2 though.

They are big rockets but can’t be spammed, i would find it comparable with the P-38 G with the 6 M8’s i would see them as about equal in rocket loads though IAR would just be slower ofc so its not like it would be unbalanced.

I understand where you’re coming from, but saying they’re big but can’t be spammed is like saying a 250kg bomb is big but can’t be spammed compared to 4 50kg bombs. They have completely different use cases, and there’s a reason why BR1 planes commonly have 4 50kg bombs but none have a 250kg bomb (except one silly Premium, because of course it has to power creep).

The data below shows that Wfr.Gr.21 rockets are MUCH stronger than an M-8 in every category, and capable of killing mid to high BR tanks in one hit. Their fragment count and radius also means they can clear a point in a single shot. It would be very difficult to achieve the same effect spamming M-8 rockets. You’d probably crash trying to cover a wide area and you have no chance of taking down decent tanks with them.

Name Velocity TNT Penetration Damage Radius Frag. Count Frag. Radius Frag. Damage
M-8 Rocket 260 2.0kg 24.4 306 3.1m 777 20.1m 22.7
Wfr.Gr.21 320 9.5kg 61.5 471 3.4m 3000 48.5m 30.7

A lot of players want a more chill experience in low BRs with bolt actions, slow RoF automatics, and small explosions. I think the high-explosive ordnance should stay in higher BRs. We already have the Fw 190 A-8 at BR3 with 2 Wfr.Gr.21 rockets and it’s strong but more reasonable at that tier with 250kg bombs and big howitzer cannons being more common.

Fair i agree the lower Br’s should be for more casual gaming though its 3.5kg more explosive filler on each side, would be the same as adding 2 extra M8 tubes on each side.

I know Germany had smaller rockets Which i have talked about previously in other threads, the R4M rockets which i believe had around 4-5kg of explosives and various modifications existed with some Just being basically the war head of the RPzB.Gr. 4322 (panzershrek rocket) slapped on the front end for Anti armour puposes or the war head of a mortar for infantry
