A rework of planes

With this I agree, at least for aircraft. But markings should not be there. Same as for infantry. Element of surprise is greatest advantage you can have in ww2 air warfare. Erich Hartmann words, and is someone proved it, he did.

Tactical radar is a bad idea…

You can replace all that with “disposable” planes:

  1. can’t repair or re-arm but you can leave battlefield
  2. spawn 3km away
  3. drop bombs/rockets/shoot others and leave the area

Now you have faster rotation of the players in planes. No need to add anything new besides a zone to “de-spawn”.

Dogfights are pointless without ground striking in a combined arms game.

And now you are talking trash…

Yes, which is why a render distance high enough to bomb effectively would be nice

Interesting idea. If you survive you can respawn again further in the game. If you die, no more planes for you this game.

Is it pointless when I shoot down 3 Ju87 before they bomb you?

I highly dislike this idea. Landing a plane would at least take a full minute. You need to make a lengthy approach, and slow down. After that, you need up to another full minute to rearm, and then another two minutes to take off and get up to speed before you can even think of making another attack run. As a result, you are spending ~5 minutes per attack run, in a match that may last up to 15 minutes, so you can only make up to 3 bombing runs.

  • On top of that, you must be lucky enough to not get shot down after spending all that time, rendering that time wasted.
  • And on top of that, you are blind due to lack of render distance, meaning you rely on pure luck to get kills.

Planes honestly aren’t that much of an issue in the game that this would ever be needed:

  • If you want to shoot down planes, bring an engineer squad with AA, or a fighter plane.
  • If you don’t want to get bombed, walk through houses and/or take alternative, non-obvious routes that planes are unlikely to attack.

Essentially, just git gud, and you’ll be fine.

Planes need an adjustment in flight mechanics. Right now they are too hard to control. As for their impact on the game just increase the distance they need to travel to rearm and make an adjustment to their bomb loads.

And while you are leisurely landing and taking off again what about other players that might want to fly?

IMO there are other more pressing issues than planes ATM…

I never said anything about needing to spend time on the ground to rearm, just that you needed to complete be stationary, yes it would slow the game down too much if you needed to spend a minute on the ground doing nothing. I tried doing a takeoff and landing in the practice mode and it took about 2 minutes, this is without airbrakes as they are not currently in the game.

I fly planes more than I get hit by them from the ground, and when that happens i will absolutely jump into my attack plane and shoot them down. Hiding inside buildings doesn’t prevent you from being bombed, small bombs can go through the roof and hit the top floor and rockets can go through the walls, big bombs can land outside and kill people inside.

You don’t controll fuel mixture, prop pitch, radiator, rudder almost works automatic, trim, magneto, turbocharger stages… And it is still too hard? Which part?
