A potential solution to the lack of Tank mounted MG for Japan

This is not a suggestion I can really put pictures to since it’s a mechanical change but here goes.

For Japan it’s a whole different system for Machine guns on tanks, they can’t use them and the main gun on a tank at the same time unlike other factions. Let’s look at the T28, your soldiers all aim where you do but in a slower speed with the mounted MG on the tank. A second or so and you would have 6 guns aiming, firing when you do. We extend that ability to a single MG Tanker for Japanese tanks. Set a alternate fire button, this not only satisfies HA but gives them a more natural and realistic way to be a unique faction. This would apply to all tanks with MG mounted in the turret/hull for the Japanese. You set it to say 90/95° angle as a example and that’s where they can aim or whatever they have it set for when your playing as them what ever is closer to what the specifics are.

This would allow Japan to use hull mounted MG without switching to the MG soldier but it follows the T28 rules, your MG tanker is killed you lose your MG same as any tank.

This new ability would add uniqueness to the faction while still finding a way to implement a machine gun for every tank that had one to fire along side the main gun for Japan if the user so wished. It would be a bit slower then other factions MG but it would let you aim. Where ever the main gun points the MG trails a little bit behind until you stop moving or it goes outside of the realistic angle range for the MG.

Would you like to see this for the Japanese tanks?

That are not the rules for the T-28. In comunist USSR death is no excuse to stop operating turrets and as such communism clearly is the ultimate way to go…

The hull MG should be controllable by the gunner on all tanks

just make it work like the apc machine gunner

Both of those are also good ways, either way it would be a unique gameplay style and solve a issue. Yes.

Enlisted should equip all tanks with machine guns, instead of treating them as mere decorations.

Is this something that would qualify for them to look at and possibly change?

This is indeed another workaround. However, the biggest difference between Japanese tanks and others is simply that they lack a coaxial machine gun next to the main cannon. Tanks like the Panzer IV, T-34, and Sherman all have hull machine guns, and the hull forward machine gun mechanic has now been mostly implemented in the game.

That said, this comes with an obvious downside: the hull machine gunner no longer doubles as the loader. So whenever the commander is killed and the crew is shorthanded, the machine gunner won’t take on the more critical role of loader, making this mechanic extremely pointless. It’s just a wrong priority order in the logic. I think this issue should be fixed first.

Lastly, let’s talk about whether we could be allowed to remove the machine gun from destroyed tanks and use it ourselves.

I do agree priority would need adjustment, but if we order the machinegunner to load first in the event of the existing loader dying after the commander it would solve the issue. We would be able to use the machine gunner as a machinegunner when we have someone in the loader spot. And yes this works only with hull mounted guns as I said above so that excludes any tanks that don’t have one, it would be at the angles the MG has. Were basically just automating it without having to directly control the seat.
