As I wait for more news about the upcoming changes, I wish to explore how the new matchmaking system could be best implemented.
Well, lets start with Japan. Outside of late campaign infantry unlocks, they will likely have two tiers, low equipment and medium equipment. Why equipment as the MM tiers? Well outside of player skill, what could you balance such factions like Italy and Japan around? Would low tier equipment used by a highly skilled player be bumped into high tier matches or will there be a clear divide between the well equipped and not so well equipped?
For the major factions, will this equipment divide split into low, medium and high? Should medium level be allowed to face low and high? If there was mixing, it could be fun, could just as easily be unfun.
There should also be a preset or loadout selection tab to quickly equip gear to squads for what level you want to play. This proposed low-med-high tiering is mostly so you can use what you want, while getting placed against opponents who can actually deal with you. Although the dream of using a tiger against relatively helpless stuarts and shermans will always remain in every historical or not gamers heart, this method should at least make it a chance happening.
Examples of equipment tiers:
Low:
Tanks: PZ 2 C, PZ 2 F, T 26, T-60, PZ 3 B, PZ 3 E, A13, AB-41, BA-11, PZ 38 (t) and so on. Basically tanks that don’t have armor capable of blocking AT rifles and main guns that are not good in more than one role.
Planes: I only remember the HS-123, so put anything with a garbage payload or lackluster main armaments here.
Infantry: Bolt actions, MP 28s, pistols, 50 mm mortars. Really anything already in the low campaign levels.
Medium:
Tanks: Anything with meh armor and a decent main gun. Pz 4, T-28E, T-50, Lee, Grant, Crusader, Pz 4 F2.
Planes: I don’t know, the differences kind of blend together for me.
Infantry: MP40, drum mag weapons, semi-auto rifles, flamers, and so on.
High:
Tanks: Pretty obvious that the Berlin tanks will be here besides the PZ-4 (alphabet).
Planes: Probably the Normandy planes as they are all ballin.
Infantry: Those scoped non-bolt action weapons that I never use and possibly gold orders? Most weapons tend to have drawbacks which prevent them from me considering too influential in a match. I believe planes and tanks selected in your loadout will be the main determining factor of this system I am thinking of.
Afterthoughts, I am probably just anxious for more news regarding the direction the game is going. Here’s hoping to Enlisted’s future!
