i know this has been spoken about alot before, and ill talk about it again.
allow axis forces to equip squads entirely with STG44’s regardless of their class.
it may not seem like a sane idea, but the allies can have m2 carbines, AVS36, AS-44 and AVT40, in this case giving axis their iconic weapon for the common troops doesn’t seem all that bad once this is pointed out.
after all the STG44/MP43 is less powerful than AVS36, AVT40, however its equally matched to AS-44.
the MP43, (or in earlier campaigns, the MKB42), already fills out the role of a assaulter’s weapon, we don’t need another assaulter-only weapon thats slightly better than the previous one.
nonetheless, one major compromise that wont sit well with anyone is the fact that the FG42/II will remain as widely used by any squad, for this weapon i would give it to certain squads that can use these exceptionally rare paratrooper weapons, squads such as the ones that belong to parachute divisions/regiments.
the ideal move will be to allow certain divisions/regiments to choose whichever way they want to equip their troops regardless of the rules.
for example the 1st infantry division of the army group south and 32nd infantry division of army group north were selected to be issued the STG44 and other assault rifles of the same type, this means that any infantry regiment that belonged to those 2 divisions had STG44’s issued to everyone, i don’t see any regiments that belong to these 2 divisions in the game, so some should be added.
TLDR; allow axis squads to give STG44’s to everyone in certain squads
I’d rather the Axis just get the FG-42 Bayonet it deserves, literally every other nation has bayonets on their SF rifles, and hell SU now has it on one of their top tier assaulter guns
Just kinda stupid especially when bayonet is literally modelled onto the gun yet is unusable
Jonson LMG only being available for Machine gunners also seems odd, as it is basically the US version of the FG 42. It would be nice if more soldier could use it.
i think the easy way to limit guns and how they can be used is if they’re division/regiment specific, for example the parachute regiment can use the paratrooper weapons, and non parachute regiment cannot use paratrooper weapons, or as ive mentioned, specific divisions/regiments can be allowed to give STG’s for everyone.
but for other rare guns a different logic can be applied, like the AVT-40, it was developed due to a shortage of machine guns but the production ended shortly, so im thinking its not fair if its paywalled, so it should be a specialized class weapon, most likely a gunner-only weapon because it was meant to fullfill the shortages of machine guns, it could serve as a room sweeper.
the FG42/II can be easily shoved to just parachute regiment squads only because its a paratrooper rifle, and regardless of its attachments, any squad member should be able to use any fg42 with any attachment.
AS-44 could just be a gold order weapon, considering theres 0 info about its production numbers
the PPSH could definetly be used by everyone, it would kinda help out-cancer the stg44, and keep a steady balance
yeah i dont think its a great idea for balance sake, imagine how it would turn out if you could equip your entire squad with auto rifles while your enemy has boltaction rifles or just the semi auto rifles, it would be heavily one sided battle.
nah nah with such weapons, the numbers and rareness logic can apply, fedorov is rare, rarer than fg42, meaning it could be either put to a premium squad, or a gold order weapon, as44 doesnt even have production numbers its that rare. so id say put it as a gold order weapon or as a squad specific weapon
it would work, its the best way to satisfy people’s need for equipping their squads with the same gun, after all ive said it before, ppsh’s were widely used, they werent class specific, and stg44 wasnt either, at least not at the later stage of the war, certain 2 divisions were equipped with just those guns, and with enough skill you can face any of them with ease.
Wrong
Around 6 mil. ppsh were produced and 1 or 2 soldier were equipped within 12 member standart squad.
More than 30 million mosins were produced so do the math.
i dont think you’ve read it but ive said i want to give specific squads the ability to give any assault rifle to any soldier, regardless of class, that dont mean everyone is getting the same gun, it will only be 1 or 2 squads that can do that, and the rare weapons would be restricted more, so some rare paper rifle cannot be handed out to everyone.
some guns would obviously be cancerous to be equipped on all squads, while other guns would make too much sense to be equipped onto every soldier, like the stg44
there should be at least 1 squad that can equip the same weapon such as the stg44 on all squad mates regardless of class, kind of like how a starter rifle in any campaign can be equipped for all
