The 65th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed “The Borinqueneers” during the Korean War[1] for the original Arawak Native American name for Puerto Rico (Borinquen), is a Puerto Rican regiment of the United States Army. The regiment’s motto is Honor et Fidelitas, Latin for Honor and Fidelity.

The Army Appropriation Bill created by an act of Congress on 2 March 1899 authorized the creation of the first body of native troops in Puerto Rico. On 30 June 1901, the “Porto Rico Provisional Regiment of Infantry” was organized.[2] On 1 July 1908, Congress incorporated the regiment into the Regular Army as the Puerto Rico Regiment of Infantry, United States Army.[3]

On 14 May 1917, the regiment was activated and additional men were assigned, with the unit being sent to serve at Panama.[3] On 4 June 1920, the regiment was renamed 65th Infantry.[3] During World War II, the regiment saw action throughout Europe, especially France and Germany, participating in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno and Rhin.[4] Several Purple Hearts were awarded posthumously to members of the 65th Regiment.

The 65th Infantry Regiment participated in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Global War on Terrorism. On 10 June 2014, the 65th Infantry was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.[5]

U.S. Winchester Model 70, "USMC-SNIPER" Unertl Scope | Rock Island Auction
The story of the Winchester Model 70 in Marine Corps service begins in the early 1940s as the branch began evaluating a platform to replace the M1903 A5 Sniper Rifle. Tests in 1941 by the The Marine Corps Equipment Board recommended the procurement of 1000 Winchester Model 70s, which would be paired with the new Unertl 8x USMC -SNIPER telescope to create the branch’s new sniper rifle.

The Winchester Model 70 had strong advocates amongst the cadre of officers with National Match experience, namely Captain George Van Orden, Gunner Calvin Lloyd and Lieutenant Colonel Merritt Edson. Their recommendations were based on obvious reasons: the Model 70 was a sleeker, far less complicated design with minimal barrel contact. The Model 70 would provide Marine snipers with the most accurate rifle available in the looming Second World War. The Hunting Ghillie Suit Came First and Was Adopted by Snipers

Diversity for diversity sakes is an insult to those Americans that served their country. While few African Americans served in combat roles, many Japanese Soldiers did. Late in the war two Hispanic regiment’s trained and where sent to Europe to fight for their ‘country’. Units like the Tuskegee airmen and the windtalker add to the story of WW2. !

Despite the Marine Corps’ firm rejection of the Model 70, some of these rifles did, in fact, serve overseas in combat, albeit on an unofficial basis. Sniper historian Peter R. Senich reported: “[A]ccording to firsthand accounts, a fair number of unauthorized telescope-equipped ‘personal and Marine Corps property’ Model 70s brought the reality of war to Japanese combat personnel during the early stages of World War II in the South Pacific.” The U.S. Army also procured a limited number of Model 70 rifles during World War II, but little is known about their subsequent utilization, and it appears they saw virtually no actual use.

Sorry just a few ideas i would like to create a unique unit without unleashing a clown car onto the game. if anyone has anything to add or any unique ideas i would love to see them. WW2 was very white but not all white a few shades of the rainbow would not go amiss. I love green and brown but after colorization of film ww2 has unleashed the rainbow.
