whose stupid idea was it to create this challenge ? half of my team is running around trying to melee enemy smg or mg squads, any other time this would be trolling.
what makes me more frustrated is the fact that i need to land in top 50% 1 more time and then i`ll be joining them
Doesn’t it count as a melee kill if you finish a downed enemy with a melee? That’s how I’ll be doing it I think, that or bayonet probably.
No - you have to get both halves of the kill for it to count - if you’re in melee then it’s pretty difficult not to get both halves tbh… or to be both halves! lol
Done it in 1 match of Invasion as defender works great for it. Wasn’t bad and it’s pretty easy to do. I only lost 5 or 6 squads and luckly we own the game and I was on 3rd place with 60 kills…

My harder thing to do in this game was getting the 30kill acchivment on Flametrowers and mortar. Luckily is done, will never touch Flametrowers or mortars again. Somehow melee kills were more pleasent to do than mortars and Flametrowers. Hate that shit. If I ill touch knifes again. ,? Nop never anymore. Only if a event demands it.

I did it in Battle of Berlin. Many close quarter fights.
Just relax and play without pressue. Take knife and run around. You will die alot, but who cares?

Display is one thing. Counting in statistics another.
Yes it will tell you melee kill if you fniish of a downed foe that someoen else has hit, and you will be told melee kil if someone else does the same for you - but it won’t count as one unless they hcanged the rules significantly.
You can get melee kills in aircraft too - they don’t count eitehr.
I hopped into Eastern European server and played USSR. Finished the 30 kills in a single invasion match as it was all bots(zero and I mean zero players) on the German side. Pretty darn easy.
Ok, you are correct, it displays melee kill and it’s very misleading this way as it does not count. (Just tested.)

Hey devs if you read this: PLS no more “challenges / tasks / event objectives” that keep the playerbase from winning. I hate writing PTFO in the team chat every single match.

Well, 30 melee kills is a piece of cake.Especially if you play with mosin with a bayonet.
Best game in last week, I wish to thank devs for this event. 
Madsen and axe chop-chop-chop at point B. There are maps where it is absolutely ridiculous to use the melee, and there is this one where it’s more effective than a PPD inside the building, as it turns out. Ok it required that half the enemy team was AI squad brainlessly entering the building.
My score is not good, but hell I’m mostly 4th-7th.

And yes melee task is the most stupid uncreative thing ever , its just pure trolling on the devs part !
It’s making you try out a different playstyle, but I’m not here to protect the devs even though I liked the task. Other similar games have these kind of events as well, but I guess the video below is with participants willing to join, not a forced playstyle, and it’s melee only.
It’s probably not something the devs devised to ruin your day. Maybe next time they should give two options, melee kills or sniper kills, do one of them. Although with 15 tasks (14 maybe, be top 1 is not something I can regularly do) you have plenty to select from to perform the 8 required.
This was terrible idea. The whole summer event is too much grind anyways, i’m just gonna burn out and uninstall.
