I just wasted like 40 minutes in a match, which seemed to be fill with bots, just to prevent this idiotic penalization. It has to be removed, it only scares new players and veterans don’t give a damn about since they already have everything and are the ones quitting

Couldnt agree more.

@MuaHaHaHaHa 100%. Its so wrong and it doesnt even work.

I just got a 20 % penalty, which I fully deserved. I started a game not remembering that I had told my girlfriend that I would take her food shopping today, and when she came in the room ready to go, I had just started rushing my first cap point, but hadn’t fired a shot. Seeing a not so happy looking face, I bailed. :joy:

However, this is the first time I have deserted since the new rules were installed. I have however been penalized half a dozen times due to power outages, lost internet and even Gaijin’s network booted me a couple times. Kind of a kick in the balls to get the company servers to boot you and then they penalize you for it. :no_good_man: However, I really don’t care anymore as no one listens and after playing over 3 1/2 years there is nothing I need, so penalties don’t effect me what so ever. So, to those who imposed this draconian penalty, this is for you. :yum:

PS, this is actually the second time I purposely bailed since the penalty was imposed. The first time I did it just to see the penalty in action. Call it my ā€œBeta test desertionā€ :joy:

Hear hear.

I hate this nonsense and how sweaty gamers defend it. I had some self righteous swine going on about having ā€œempathyā€ for my teammates, that leaving is 'selfish"

These fools have no life and want to ruin the gaming experience for everyone else because they have never touched grass.

Like why the hell cant you pause/leave a game to go shopping with your girlfriend? (congratulations by the way, its nice to hear some people still find companionship in this age of loneliness epidemics)

As you say theres internet problems, power cuts, stuff happening outside the game like people SH#T HAPPENS. You shouldnt be punished because you have a life outside of games.

It is especially annoying when I know that other games maintain a good playerbase without crap like this.

War Thunder just doesnt have a penalty (which is good), while Hell Let Loose acknowledges that not everyone has time for a hour and a half match so they just have a big reward for those at the end.
You leave before the end? Fine, you get whatever XP youve earned up until that point but you dont get the bonus and thats okay.

I also continue to be genuinely puzzled by the whole ā€˜deserters ruin the game’ argument. Ive been playing for like 5 years now and deserters have never ruined a game for me.

What DOES ruin games is not building rallypoints or not marking enemies.

Im surprised there havent been more punishments for not building any rallies instead of that one guy that went afk cause grandma needed help in the garden.

Its somewhat amusing to think theres some weirdos out there chucking a tantrum cause a random person theyve never met and dont even know their name left the game to answer the doorbell and apparently that somehow ruins that whole person’s battle.

If youre losing its either because you are a bad player, or youve got a crappy team; not because of some random who left.

I believe Luvs2spooge you and I have discussed before various issues like defenders not having enough time to actually defend, unbalanced teams and so forth.

You know, I don’t care if someone deserts to be honest, we don’t know about it till the game is over anyway, and when your side is curb stomping the other team or vise versa, the game outcome doesn’t change because a few people leave the game. I’m getting to old to worry about little things like that, it’s just a free arcade video game that some take entirely too serious. I have stopped playing a ton of regular games in favor of just playing in my own little world custom matches. It is far less stressful for my 61 year old mind, and if I have to desert, there is ZERO penalty. I can play with and against as many bots as I want and NEVER have to play on a map or game mode I don’t want. Sure, I get all bots, but at my age, who gives a shit? :joy: I’ve been playing video games since the late 1970’s so the vast majority of my life has been playing against the computer. And one thing I have learned, custom match bots actually build rally points! :astonished: I’ve been playing a lot with squads I don’t use against other people because either I am not great with them, or they just suck in general and were premium locked into a crappy weapon.

Anyway, I am just to the point I don’t care anymore. People don’t listen, and the Dev’s don’t listen, so what do I care. :no_good_man: Life is too short to be frustrated with a video game.

Yeah, most other games figured out a while ago that their competitive game mode needed desertion penalties or some sort of ā€œconsequenceā€ to keep things running smoothly, while their casual game modes did not need any such penalties because… they’re casual.

Unfortunately, Enlisted doesn’t have any kind of separation between it’s competitive and casual traits, so it ends up as neither a competitive or casual game. Warthunder has both realistic and arcade, while Enlisted’s gameplay is just arcade imo.

Having competitive-style penalties for leaving a match in a game that only offers a casual experience just feels wrong to me.

I would like to see the desertion penalty discontinued, and instead display the map name after I press ā€˜START’ and while I wait in the queue during match-making.

Penalty fits fine in games like CS where people take the game seriously.

This game is a joke and people plays it like a joke majority of time.
Quick & easy to pass time but nothing to be taken seriously.

Doubt even devs takes this game seriously.

Penalty doesnt exactly fit in such casual game.

Please name me a team based 10v10 game with:

  • no fill ins

  • Reward for winning a game

  • No desertion penalty

Every other game that I know and has the first 2 points always has a desertion penalty. League, Valo, CS, OW, Siege, The Finals. Even Dead By Daylight has a penalty

All of those games has competive mode, competive scene.

This ? We have sniperlord9000 digging holes at edge of map.
In above mentioned games you could report him for grieving.
Here ? Just part of casual sandbox game.

I had multiple desertions because I had to do something irl. Guess what - I never complained. Because shit happens and I committed to the match beforehand. If I can’t fulfill the commitment, I fully deserve the penalty

It locks you out of the vehicles

It’s 25v25 system with drop ins - largely different than enlisted

Every other team based game with win rewards and no drop in system has some sort of desertion penalty - vast majority of them having much MUCH harsher penalties than a measly 20%

The penalty is so lenient that currently it’s still better to leave a losing match and play a winning one. And the outrage regarding the penalty is the biggest self report of this community there is

That being said:

But they have casual modes that face exactly the same penalties as ranked ones

Ranking system is not the indicator whether a game is competetive or not. Hell, I’d even go as far as say that game can have certain competetive aspects even if there’s no real reward for winning. TF2 is a competitive game even if you don’t get win rewards - it’s just the competetiveness is centered around fights with other players rather than the match itself

???

CS definitely doesnt, that I know for sure.
Siege atleast a year ago ? Didnt have any penalty from leaving public game.
Havent touched valorant for few years now so not exactly sure.

But the lack of it kinda indicates that dev definitely has no intention of making it competive.

Dont recall ever getting punish from leaving TF2 games either.
And never actually tried its competive side, If I recall it was again community made mode and so on.
So the punishment, if the tf2 comp even had one doesnt exactly apply to TF2 core game.

Do what ever you want is kinda definition of sandbox.
Want to dig holes at edge of map and push crayons to nose ? Go for it, no penalty.

You get punished for leaving unraked matches. You don’t get punished for leaving custom matches - Enlisted doesn’t either

But had drop in system IIRC. Leaving unranked matches was met with the same penalty as ranked ones tho

It still retains competetive elements and incentives. Ranked mode makes the game, well, ranked but doesn’t take away from the overall competetivness

I never said that. This example is that even when there is no incentive to win a match in form of better rewards it still doesn’t have to mean that the game retains no competetive elements

obraz

I think there is a very VERY clear goal of each enlisted match. Especially given all the rewards you get by excelling at reaching this goal.

No you dont, just tried just incase if they have changed something in past 2 days.
I often do few rounds of casual or DM before going premier and havent got penalty to this day.
Premier / Competive are the only modes that puts a penalty if you leave.

gotcha, as said havent touched it in years.

What exact competive elements ? If I recall the comp mode was heavily modded to meet the needs of competive scene.

Which you arent forced to meet in any manner. As above said, if you feel like digging holes in edge of map, go for it, nothing stops you from creating your trench in this sandbox.

Do something equally stupid in CS and you get penalty for grieving.

Ive unlocked pretty much everything I need so that hardly is enough incentive to me try to carry 9 bots team.

So I can camp at edge of map and roleplay trench digger for all I care.
Am I helping team to win ? No
Am I getting punished for this ? No

Does this sound like a game to be taken seriously like CS ? Well not exactly.
So is the ā€œcompetiveā€ penalty justified in game that doesnt force the competivenes in anyway ?
Not exactly.

Transcription from a Riot dev (Riot August) on ā€œbad internetā€:
ā€œLast year I legit got 14 day ban for internet issues, proved it to support and they still didn’t unban meā€
We’re not going to unban you for internet issues. If you have internet issues repeatedly you deserve to be banned, because we don’t want you playing the game if you have repeated internet issues (or repeated crashing etc issues)
There is a difference between having one game, where your internet screws up, and having repeated disconnects.
And if you have like one game and your internet screws up, thats fine, it sucks for the people in your game, but sometimes you know, your power goes out, sometimes your internet dies, that’s totally fine.
But if you repeatedly have internet issues, we’re going to ban you, because at the end of the day you’re still leaving games repeatedly and thats a pattern of behaviour, the pattern of behaviour is you’re constantly ruining games because you don’t have the internet to stay in the game. And so again, if you disconnect a few times like once or twice, that’s totally fine, like we understand that. But if you have a pattern of repeatedly disconnecting, even if its technically not your fault because its your internet provider, thats still a problem. Thats still your responsibility.

Agreed. Avoiding bad maps and bad gamemodes like Confrontation and Conquest is one of the main reasons people desert.

If they let us see what the map and gamemode was before ā€˜committing’ to the battle it would help a lot.
