First off, I’ve said it before, I think adding artillery sites off the map where the artillery is fired from would be a great addition. This way, opposing aircraft can target it and put a delay into their capabilities. Many people have expressed that this feels like a straight nerf and wouldn’t be fair.
So in addition, I would like to suggest this buff as well:
Currently players are able to use artillery strikes just by having a RO in that squad, looking at the map and calling it in. What I would like to see is the addition of a function that can ONLY be used by the RO themselves, with the use of binoculars. When using the binoculars, they can set a point for the artillery to hit but in addition can determine the size of the area that it will hit (current size being the largest, but can also choose smaller radius up to a certain extent.) This way, the smaller the radius, the more compact and accurate the explosions are.
Using this method means they MUST be capable of seeing their target via line-of-sight, but offers much greater accuracy and control of the strike. Making it much more useful for hitting specific fortified positions and even tanks to greater effect.
- With both of these together, RO squads could become a lot more dynamic and useful to the battlefield, as well as being counterable.
