Good game asking more than this. This is chaos with tension to became bigger chaos.
20 years ago there was one simple WW II game,
Fight for Achen and cities in line, u have squads, soldiers… u gave them orders where to go and WHAT to do, sometimes they are afraid, BUT THEY DO IT GOD DAMNED IT 
some of them die 
then u get new names, survivers go to next battle and next if they survive … But u were able to set task for each soldier in squad, hide, wait, ambush, be quiet…

Today 20 years after people are not able to create simple AI squad and list of basic commands…
I will quit, let say 6 months and than back to see what is new.

Man a new Hidden & Dangerous would be amazing… even the AI was 110% better than here lmao.
Gonna ignore the OP. Hidden and Dangerous 2 was my shit when I was a little kid. My based Korean War veteran grandpa got me that for PC and I was hooked (too young to play good though). Recently picked it up on Steam and have zero regrets.
CLOSE COMBAT was name of game… top wiew, send soldier by soldier
sometimes they panic and runaway from battle…lol
but u were able to gave them PERSONAL COMMANDS AND TASKS
20 years ago Battlefront started the “Combat Mission” series - I played all the 1st series games for 5-6 years - company-battalion sized, no fancy weapons just historical organisations scenarios, historical PvE, in a "we-go turn based game (each plot moves for 1 minute then simultaneous execution)
AI had morale, cover seeking, you could set the AI soldiers to watch a sector out to a certain range, they would engagte in opportunity fire, hide if you ordered, occupy renches and cover etc.
THAT game series is up to about its 3rd major iteration - and I keep wondering why the AI here is so bad when this was able to be done in 1999-2000???
