I was skeptical with team at the start but after almost a year…
They got actually modified in better, your AI automatically heal nearby friendly, the reward for heal allaies is now fine after the nerf because of the exploit, and 5 smg are better than 4 so is totally better than the assaulter squad for solo player for speed up the grind or for support the team in a squad
I can get 4 smg and 1 mg in assaulter squad, so not much different in terms of automatic fire power.
Besides that, medic squad can’t add other soldier like engineer, at soldier, radio operator really make it a bit hard to use.
I liked it even before the many tweaks and buffs it got, but now, I love it. Seriously even if the class was not able to use smgs I’d still use it (but smg is a nice bonus).
Those med crates saved my ass more times than I can count in Stalingrad, and healing allies is fun but also much rewarding xp wise, now.
10/10 would heal again.
Edit: I find single medics in other squads more useful than a full all medic dedicated squad.
Added to above i also dislike how medics replace assaulter I squad in campaigns with them.
So there are no assaulter I soldiers wchich are cheapest to upgrade, so You have to get either sub-optimal assaulter II that are more expensive, or wait untill end of campaign to finally upgrade assaulter III to full.
With some tech tree i would like them in old campaigns too, at least You can heal when there is nothing to shoot.
In the Pacific campaign, the medic can provide a second automatic fire for the infantry squad, so i can get 7 semi-auto, 1 SMG and 1 LMG,In a sense, this not only makes my squad stronger and more applicable to the intense style of c;ose combat that I love, but also brings the composition of my squad closer to the historical reality. In addition, medic squads have better base skill points and can easily learn 35% extra HP value specialties, and I think medics are stronger than first-rank assault soldiers in terms of individual soldier combat power. However, the inability to equip a backpack is also a drawback that affects the flexibility of the medics on the battlefield
It personally has become one of my favorite additions and provides an additional choice within squad upgrades.
With the updates they made to the class as well, it can be a very viable class in certain situations. It has become an anchor in most of my squads that have HVTs like engineers, radiomen, etc because they survive a lot longer, particularly when you have a perk setup that leans towards healing.
I can understand some who dont like that medics are like assaulters but engineers are pretty overloaded so i dont see why medics cant have a lil extra firepower over them imo
only issues that i have, is that there is no way to refill syringes, ( unless i missed it, which it’s a possibility ), medic base squad has only medics, and the fact that the base squad is essentially a tier one smg therefore no way to fit them trooper weapons.
