Using that logic US doesn’t need belt fed MG. And I’m sorry to say thys m’ lady but they have to get belt fed MG as (at least imo) .30 is iconic enough to include it in the game.
Also I’m more willing to sacryfice asymetrical ballance (even if I don’t think I do), than to tolerate FG42 in it’s current state.

Manageable means that this gun is not lasergun like PPSH, it has recoil, and this recoil needs to be managed on low-stars. Automode is a shotgun-range instrument only
Overall that means that idea about 1 FG per squad for 10 silver - is retarded. FG requires all 6 stars to be really death machine (still worse than PPSH)

And outfitted my Flamer squad with FG-42 IIs which make the first one look positively balanced

The fg42 it really has no recoil you can even shoot 8 round in the same spot aiming, you only need to drag the mouse down a bit.
And if you prone you literally doesn’t need to hold the recoil, bc there is none.
