For over a week now airplanes have been completely unflyable. Its like driving a freakin boat and inputs make ZERO sense.
I have everything dialed down to nothing and STILL the slightest input to raise the nose/aimpoint and the nose jumps up. The ability to smoothly input flight controls is completely gone. Forget trying to shoot it takes every bit of flying just to keep an airplane in the sky.
I’ve tried every input adjustment and toggled on and off modes to try to find something flyable and IT DOESN’T EXIST.
I think it means that you now really have to know how to fly a plane realistic like. Ever tried War Thunder? Flying realistic is far different from shooting around in Arcade battles.
You need to fly within your plane limits, lift, speed, turns, diving, controls.
BF 2 had some of the most realistic aircraft ever. Then they screwed that up. The flight characteristics here weren’t great but they didn’t suck. NOW THEY SUCK. And I have flown for years in war thunder. Thats an arcade game.
My issue has nothing to do with understanding the dynamics of thrust/drag/lift/gravity. My issue is that for some unknown reason someone decided to fix something that wasn’t broken and now the changes have made the airplanes unflyable.
If they wanted to do something unique and make the game great. They could add support for joysticks and throttles THAT would be an improvement.
Yeah that was dumb. Airplanes go where you point them so long as they have enough airspeed and these airplanes go where the program tells them they are supposed to go not where the pilot tells it to go.
In BF2 if you had a saitek joystick and throttle that was as good as any game ever made. If you want to see what is possible go search youtube for BF2 videos of aircraft flying. That game ran on old computers, shit internet and was still WAY better than anything made since then.
I’m also a pilot and I can confirm this game is absolutely terrible when it comes to realistic flight characteristics, same with warthunder. Though I will say it’s at least better than battlefield.
Yes, some kind of change? When I got to fly the SD in the Pacific Campaign, taking off from the Carrier was really easy, flaps or not, no issues at all. Then sometime later, I kept crashing into the sea no matter what I did. Since taken off a few times ok using take off flaps, nose kept down, full speed, down the middle and after clearing the deck, not lifting the nose too much and retracting the wheels (avoid dropping your speed) and gradual climb.
All this worked for a few goes then I started to crash again. I have since given away planes as they are ineffective anyway. So, more life for the infantry!
Just tested SD off the Carrier and all went to plan dropping bombs for 7 kills before being shot down. I then found my soldier running around alone on Carrier flight deck without a plane in sight
That has been an age old question since the dying days of BF2 forward. No one wants to provide support for joysticks unless its for an aircraft specific game. Not sure why. Its not rocket science. Its just code.
I bet Enlisted would gain more players just for that reason. Lots of us have expensive joysticks collecting dust.
