Game is great. I enjoy it and probably the only game since COH2 that I have played regularly for more than 1yr . Usually I get bored on most games after a few months.
It’s a great pick me up and play game.

The cash shop doesn’t offer anything worth using, if that’s your idea of disgusting.

Interesting question. I will only say where the game is good at and where its bad
Bad (because Germans love to criticize):

  • Awful gun gameplay. Even HnG has better gunplay now
  • Small vanilla maps
  • Lazy devs with awful PR-policy
  • Overpriced stuff
  • Advertisement bait

Good:

  • Squad set-up. Seriously, this is my main favorite part of the game. Yeah, AI still sucks but I love to command a squad.
  • Berlin, SG and on a good day Moscow makes fun and SG is IMHO worth it.
  • 50/50 chance that the devs improve the game with each update
  • AI soldier concept is also still good, we just need to cope a bit more
  • Entertaining forum… nah joke. Modding is great. I don’t mod on my own but the modders are extremely talented.

Ehh, while most old premium squads are worse compared to regular squads, there are exceptions and new squads are sometimes better:
-tunisa flamethrower squads are best example, easly best flame squad, in campaign with only 1 flame squad, and You get 4 flamethrowers, while all squads can only have 2, bonus engineer II in squad, before hmg only way to get more squads that could build mg nests.
-MG squads i consider better than f2p, not only 5 dudes with MG, one of them is engineer II with MG, new squads even have 2 engineers. I’d take 2 more mg for rifleman and radio operator that won’t do muich anyway anyday
-Rocket tanks, mainly calliope as it’s a tank as well. There is no f2p counterpart at all. And while they are situational, You only need one match where someone spams rockets on objective from good position to see how usefull they can be. Sure can be easly killed by plane, but some maps have resupply points in vision of objective, not even three guys spamming rmn-50 can get that much explosion spam on point
-If You want to fly all game, there are 2 fighter/bombers squads each, so if someone takes other plane You might not be able to stay in air and, poor little soul, would have to play as filthy infantry/tank.
Buy a plane squad and You can hold bomb/fighter squad pretty much all game. Not that usefull but some people like to fly.

So yeah, while olders squads are just diffrent weapons or skins with weaker squad, the power creep from high campaign levels came to premium squads too.
And while i would like them to be comparable, they should definitively be not stronger (some are), it just another step towards p2w

And the reason this is acceptable for Tunisia is because generally Tunisia isn’t the best squad to use flamethrowers in, as powerful as they are. I agree though that this is the one case where the premium variant is clearly better than the regular variant.

I don’t really know how the new ones function, but I know the old ones are just four LMGs with an added engineer spot, the engineer doesn’t have an LMG.

They’re all glass cannons. Fun but they aren’t better than top-tier armor.

Personally I want the option to equip them with regular weapons back. You’re not giving yourself any more of an advantage than someone who already has the weapons unlocked outside of a few niche circumstances with more perks, and you’re always sacrificing utility and men for those perks. It would just serve to make them competitive if the player has end-game equipment.

New squads got 5 MG’s, two of those being engineer carrying MG’s. Normal MG squads only have 3.

Newer Tunisia maps have more and better cover. Just because campaign is not great for them doesn’t mean it’s acceptable.
It’s just more tactical than going door to door on Berlin. Throw some smokes/phosphor to obscure view and create cover, get withing 30 m and You win

All tanks are glass canons, some just require more precise shots.
The canon part is what good about them though, most maps are shit for them yeah, and most people use them like suicide planes.
But they can fire over cover, so someone has to take plane to try and take them out. Now with skies being more busy after airstrikes, recent plane xp buff, and AA guns being buffed 3 times if You have someone covering You, those rockets can deny access to point for a long time, and they do it from far away and not like flamethrowers on point being much vulnerable.

Hopefully it was removed due to engineer weapons access bug, so it may come back one day

Ridiculous oversimplification honestly.

Again.

I agree with you.
Since you have written out most of what I think, I have nothing left to say. lol

The game has numerous problems and I would not recommend it to a friend, but it remains one of my favorite games.
The graphics are great and the concept of a realistic flavored casual game where you fight with bots is unique.
I play a variety of games from Battlefield to ArmA and there is no other game like it.

The very old onces come with just 4 machine gunners.

The first time they added engineer the squad came with 5 but the 5th one is engineer with also a machine gun.

So new onces seem to just have gotten 1 engineer more in exchange for removing 1 machine gunner. (which arguably is better due to having more chance 1 engineer can build a rally or more ammo boxes.)

I recommend the free version of this to anyone who loves ww2 games. The game needs more maps and less sledgehammer dev tweaks. The game needs to stay close to historical functions of ww2 weapons. The flak gun nerf was especially troubling considering anti aircraft weapons were frequently used in a ground combat role. The devs could have considered this, but chose the easy way out.
I also think Normandy should be renamed western front, Tunisia renamed North Africa, Pacific be renamed 1941 after john belushi. You need more maps and rename campaigns to fronts. Make certain troops exchangeable on same front. Reduce that premium section to half price then do a big 50% off sale, you may get more players than you thought ever.
