Would be nice to have quick command keys for the squad…
For instance on the F keys
F1:Attack
F2:Defend
F3:Prone
etc…
The wheel in the heat of the battle it’s just to messy.
I would love to eventually see a big, deep, complex command system for the soldiers, like something from Mount & Blade. That will probably just remain a thing of my dreams, however.

I agree, I wish they could first implement quick button for simple commands, keep the wheel for more complex commands and then start working on better commands system.
Just having to use that wheel while shooting at enemies is not easy.

While I agree in general, the 3 examples you came up with are already present:
X (on objective) - attack
X (on ground) - defend
You go prone - your squad goes prone
About the squad going prone…
For instance, if I want my squad to stay in a place prone while I am attacking.
What will be the right sequence?
Pressing x on the ground and where I am or in front of me and then go prone right after that?
or
wait for them to get to the point go prone and then leave?
As far as I know your squad won’t stay prone if you stand up, however that would be a neat feature.
yeah would be awesome if while prone, I click x and they remember that
