american and british gear (in some extend) has the worst sights in the game.
lets compared to others.
are developers trying to increase players eyeglasses numbers ?
why not like instead of what we have ?

In the alpha test video I saw, the rear sight used when ADSing with the Thompson was the upper open sight, not the hole one. Like in this image.
But for some reason they seem to have changed it to look through the hole.
I would argue, since sniper rifles can use both the scope and iron sights by the zoom button (although some guns get a totally useless view with the iron sights blocked by the scope), other weapons should be able to switch sights by the zoom button as well! I’d like to see the sights on the gun be switched to the other sights.
The funy thing, the Thompson sights were specifically designed so that the shooter should use the top notch for close combat and the round hole for longer engagements.
It makes very little sense for the game to force us to use this sight, since there is a much better alternative.
Are you sure about that? Physics would suggest that looking thru the top notch at the front post would tilt the barrel up further than when looking at the same post thru the aperture, causing the bullet to fly further when using the top notch.
I don’t have a primary source but I’ve heard that the top notch was ranged for 250 yards and the aperture was ranged for 100 yards.
My conspiracy is that merican sights are completely intentional thing, but it’s understandable tho. jk
worst part is the visual recoil while aiming those sights
yes, the point was, that at close combat ranges, even a very high “zero” would not matter. And yea I am also pretty sure the middle notch was for 100 yards shots, tho it might have been 50… i have been wrong before.
Realistically speaking, you would not actively try to shoot at 200+ meter distance targets, thus the “hole” sight was basically the “zero adjustment” for “longer” ranges, while in close combat you would just use the notch.
Whatever the sights were designed for in real life is irrelevant; what matters is that they’re useless in the game. They need to be reworked.
Good point
