This is not supposed to be a discussion over whether or not FF is good or bad and if we want more or less of it. I understand there already are plenty of threads for that.
Personally, I’m undecided which is better, full FF or none. But I just can’t understand, why some weapons cause FF (artillery and bombs, if pilot dies before detonation, if I’m not mistaken), while the rest don’t. And it’s not at all obvious to new players, that there is any FF at all. I can understand wanting to have either a realistic or a more enjoyable arcadey approach. Because some stuff would be gamebreakingly unfun with friendly fire and other stuff isnt as bad
Its so fun to try cap point when defenders plane drops bomb on it and only attackers die to that. Also constant tank or mortar HE spam isnt problem at all. Ofcourse it would be horrible if those he spammers would need even think where they smash their bombs
I think partly the reason could be griefing. They don’t want players to start killing own players or bots when people get frustrated. But some of the mechanics are currently broken when you can bomb the site with grenades, planes and tanks without harming your team mates. I think there should be some sort of penalty for doing that, maby -experience points if too much friendly fire or short lockdown on weapons and warning.
That would be pretty interesting. It would essentially nerf all these bombers just because they couldnt indiscriminately bomb points. I’d like to see it actually
But artillery can just as easily be used for griefing as most of the other stuff.
Griefers and TK’ers would have to be kicked from the server, just like in War Thunder. If you haven’t played WT, you don’t even have to kill allies to get sent back to the hangar. You just have to attack them too often. It’s great!
