Why Premium/Event Squads should get their own slots

Enlisted offers exceptional customization with its expansive weapon, vehicle, and cosmetic selections. It makes the choice of what squads to bring to a game an important one, as using squads that best support your playstyle can be important.

It is no secret that premium squads are incredibly expensive. Many players have a hard time justifying the purchase of premium squads or use of event squads when they directly compete with other (better) squads for precious squad slots. They may completely disregard certain premium squads as they will be quickly surpassed in versatility and overall usefulness by regular squads. Owners of these squads may feel that they have paid to hamper their success in matches, especially if they are max level, which is not desirable for anyone.

The solution is to allow separate squad slots for premium and event squads that do not take slots away from regular squads. Everyone is given a number of these premium/event squad slots that is separate from regular squads. When a player purchases a squad slot they receive a regular and special squad slot. If a player has too many premium/event squads for their special slots they can simply revert to using regular squad slots as they do currently.

Benefits:

  • Players can use their expensive premium squads guilt-free
  • Players get more in return for purchasing squad slots
  • Non-premium players can use their event squads guilt-free
  • Event/Premium squads become an even greater reward for players with empty special slots

Cons:

  • Players may be able to counter each others strategies easier with more squads to choose from

Here is a quick visual representation of what my suggested system could look like:

This is chance for Enlisted to take a currently implemented warthunder-style system and improve upon it. One thing that separates Enlisted from warthunder is that regular squads will likely be better than premium squads at their B.R. due to their extra utility and multiple soldier classes in the squad (we will see). For this reason, I think having separate squad slots for regular and event/premium squads is still a good idea even in the new system.

That would be nice. It would be nice to be able to choose your squad based on what type of battle it is. If you are a defender you get your engineer squads and if you are an attacker you get your assaulters and flametroopers.

I somewhat disagree because I like how every player has to make a strategic choice of what squads they are going to bring to battle. Almost like a game of cards where we all have our own strategic decks. In that way everyone is kind of unique in their hand. Of coarse the exception is players who have bought more slots, but those are relatively rare.

I have 4 Premium squads and even I’m only currently using 2 of them.

yes but since you never know what batle you gonna play, that doesnt make sence at all.

“lemme bring flamethrowers to clean the D-Day bunkers” - get swamps conquest all day long.

For me that’s part of the fun. I make a choice and have to live with it for a match

good, for me having more options is also part of the fun.

can we agree on a mid way ? more option and you still can make your choices? looks like a win win for me.

This is a must with a merge, there will be too many premium and event squads to count. I have 5 premium/event squad for Axis, 6 for America, 4 for Soviets (1 more if we count BT-7A which should have it’s own squad) and for JP i have 2 premium and 2 event squads. Otherwise i won’t be able to use most of them since slots are too damn limited.

i have like 70-80 premium squads, lost count already, extra slots or slots for premoids is a must.

imo.

if they intend to sell more in the future.

likewise.

I can take 10 squads yet f2p players can take only 4. But this is somewhat problem for you, to allow f2p players get more options via event squads.

This definitely solves the big problem!

No, 6 slots for sqauds is complety sufficient.

being able to unlock slots “for free” would probably be much more needed.

6 slots are enough. A player need to think twice before hitting the “start” button.

I always take the engineer, two tanks, assaulter, anti-tank and a sniper / machine gunner.

More slots for soldiers will only cause a confusion like in Staligrad.

Sure 6 slots are sufficient for your preferences, but that leaves no room for new stuff which illustrates my point. New event squads would have no room in your squad loadout for you to play the way you like to. This effectively makes the new event squads worthless, as you will never use them because they do not offer as much utility as the free squads you mentioned.

I think everyone stands to benefit from having special squad slots. People can use the event/premium squads without sacrificing any of their free squads no problem as long as they have enough special slots.

so no plane for you ?

sad :frowning:

How do you explain then, that I use 308th Antitank Battalion (event squad) in Moscow, instead of the regular anti-tank ?

In your proposition this squad will be separated from regular squads, which means more clicking / confusion for me.

you are level 26, ptrs for example is level 28 afaik.

no reason to use that gun or squad then.

The 308th Antitank Battalion (event squad) is worse than a free anti-tank squad. You are actively hampering yourself by using that squad instead of a free squad which would have more utility. You stand to benefit from having a special slot for this squad, so you can use this squad if you want to without sacrificing a slot that would hold a free (better) anti-tank squad.

If this is too much clicking or confusion, you can simply ignore the special slots entirely and continue as you are doing currently. Simple as.

Up to level 27- 28 (AVS 36 and PTRS-41) I find it better.

I can ignore, but as you said - the premium and event squads will have a separate bookmark, so it is more clicking for me.

Same as for example - paratroopers in Pacific.

For me - 6 slots for squads are enough. It forces the player to use the brain before the battle.
