Let’s start from the beggining.
It’s a matter of time untill so called “belt fed” MGs will arive in Enlisted. Such weapons as M1919A6 or MG34/MG42 with 100-250 round belts. They can be implemented in 2 main ways:
Generic.
So basically we will get EXACTLY the same guns as we already have (in case of Ge) but with a bigger mag. We will get a +200 rounds and that’s it. In exchange:
we will have to reach 40+ lvl to unlock the same gun with one stat higher
we will have to grind gunner III squad to unlock upgrades for the same gun with one stat higher
we will have to get more parts to upgrade the same gun with one stat higher
The amount of grind for those guns will be insane and what will we get? Literally ONE NUMBER HIGHER!!! This is absurd!!!
Be creative.
Do something unique (the oposite of generic). Like for example use bots and add unique mechanics to those guns. You can use AI to do tasks that will make game more realistic / immersive but are too boring to be performed by players.
I and quite a few people made posts about how those MGs could work in fun and unique way.
Now, why do I complain? Because I’m 100% sure devs will go the generic way. Just look how the “”“new”"" german AT rifle grenade will be implemented. It’s EXACTLY the same weapon we already have, but this one can damage tanks. I wouldn’t mind it as a sidegrade, but not as a F-ing new weapon!!! There is nothing unique in this weapon, why it’s different from the previous one?
Also being generic is bad in general. You don’t attract players by doing everything that other games already do. You attract players by adding interesting, unique game mechanics that can’t be found anywhere else.
Personal note.
I know that I’m exadurating and bla bla bla. But this post about AT RGLs really pissed me off. It’s just 0 effort ctrl+c ctrl+v content with ONE value changed. And so are other things like tanks for example with one or two stats changed. I want to scream at this point.
We can have so many unique mechanics, why not go this way??? You don’t make “the game of the year” by coppying things.
Also I’d like to ask the comunity to not cry “WhEn NeW cOnTenT?” because I guess nobody wants rushed content without any “soul”. (Nobody will give a fck about this request but whatever.)

and now they added a 2nd a 20 like 1 was bad enough and no new tanks for Normandy allies i wish they would add shit more fairly dont have to be perfect
You are probably right that they will just add the same gun with more ammo. Creativity has been…lacking for most things. The MG34 with the 75 magazine has already proven that it will most likely be a copy and paste with more ammo and a belt hanging out
On stationary MG’s it would be cooler to see belts and a barrell change than a dumb overheat marker. But i hope on portable MG’s belts are not coming, they are kind of balanced right now with damage/accuracy/ammo.
Yeah. Never liked the Tier II+ squads. Just another failed attempt to either increase the time to grind and/ or to force people to buy gold (I mean strangely the gold costs for Tier II+ squads are like 2x higher honk honk)
Of all the issues I have with Enlisted, I think this might be the saddest one. You can sit there and have so many cool and fun ideas, many of which are actually feasible, and then we get a Kar98k with an AT rifle grenade. It’s just sad…
make the belt mgs a new class of weapon called Heavy MG’s, and you have to deploy them like a mortar to use them, they come with 1x belt of ammo and can overheat.
well, belted mgs in my opinion should be for golden orders ( to the very least, the german ones. because the american one should be to the very least, the second unlock mg but who am i to say such thing… )
because having 3 doots with belted mg42 might be too much. ( considering that overheating or jamming animations are not a thing ) and it would be harder to balance.
you know, the american machinegun has a slow rate of fire, so even if you charge with a squad you will still be able to gun him down while losing half or more of your squad.
the same cannot be said with a mg 42 which it’s a nightmare ( just take as example the mg positions in normandy ) but those can be even moved around.
so, my cents would be to put those are golden order weapons.

Imo american MGs will be better than german ones (unless they will give them weird recoil). Fast rof is just a waste of bulets if all you need is 2 bullets to kill.
That’s why I don’t want them to be generic +200 more ammo. It will cause exactly what you say.
While adding more mechanics like: jams, overheating, assistant gunner will make them much more interesting and would nerf them in interesting way (instead of dump, generic stat change).
So I should wait until it gets implemented and then ask devs for a total rework? (That they probably won’t do as they have other priorities most likely.)
