what does fg42 has anything to do with rifleman squads I dont get it
… it’s usable by riflemen…
Because it’s…a Rifleman weapon in this game?
Trust me I think it’s beyond stupid that 9 man Rifleman Squads can all wield a lightweight LMG too, but that’s how DF decided to do it. Now if only they’d give this kind of exception to a heavy Auto Rifle I know of…
Hey what’s the functionality difference between the MG 13 and FG 42 other than the selector switch?
Weapon does not necessary have to do be related to the squad.
For example weapon upgrade for engineer and radio squad is also not really related to the squad.
It’s a rifleman weapon, so it makes sense, at least you don’t have to grind the radio operator squad
Hey I used to run a Radio Op Squad for faster strike call times!
it was originally unlocked alongside engineers so I thought it would make sense its upgrades would be tied to engineers
Idk…
Both have high dispersion unlike T20 or BAR?
(don’t forget I play, and most importantly LIKE all factions, man…)
it’s beyond anyone’s guesses on why a paratrooper battle rifle can be used by every rifleman, engineer, radio operators and any other classes out there.
but that ship sailed a long time ago i’m afraid…
T-20 does the job as being roughly an equivalent.
There was one who stood against it, but we mocked him instead.
To be real though, i like the idea of BR5 gameplay having different types of Meta guns to choose from, battle rifles vs assault rifles vs high capacity SMGs.
I think BR5 gameplay would be much more interesting if each factions final unlock MGs and semi auto guns were powerful enough to compete with regular auto guns. One way to do this would be by having BR5 MGs and Semis have little to no dispersion.
As a matter of fact, the devs should probably consider increasing semi auto damage to bolt action levels since we have BRs nowadays.
Also, a man can dream, but imagine we would have boltaction rifles with proper cycle animation while aiming down your sights. This plus a massive buff to the bolt action perk could easily make every weapon class Meta worthy in BR5.
Oh I just figured you might know better than I do. I’ve only used the FG 42 in the zombies mode and off the ground mid match, but from what I can tell it’s more or less an MG 13 with a fun switch functionally speaking
Yeah it does thankfully. Actually does the job better in several metrics. Still to use the base M1918 in 9 man squads would be so much fun
Fg 42 is rifle not LMG
It combined the characteristics and firepower of a light machine gun in a lightweight form slightly shorter (but considerably bulkier and heavier) than the standard-issue Karabiner 98k bolt-action infantry rifle.
Don’t like Wikipedia? Here’s the description of it in game
“A elite light machine gun, produced in limited numbers for German airborne infantry units.”
Is LMG
Pretty much
Regular fg42 has high dispersion and big recoil, so it could be comparable. But can be used by riflemen and doesn’t have movement penalty that I know of.
Fg42II is much better but still is the SF rifle with highest (true, hidden stats taken into account) recoil and meh dispersion all factions stuff included. Still good thought.
But I dislike SF rifles in general… I only have 2 or 3 Fg42II on my mortarmen squad, because they dress like paratroopers.
Aight so you can essentially put a slightly nerfed MG 13 on your riflemen. Got it. Lol
Meanwhile we have a buffed BAR
“Your”? “We?”
“I” am Soviets, Axis, Allies & Japan all at the same time. I do not have a main’s mentality, it’s too restricting as I would miss a good chunk of fun gameplay by ignoring some factions
Well I needed some pronoun to put there, and while I do play Soviets and Axis I’m still an American main first and foremost. Thus, “you” referring to anyone who plays Germany and “we” for me and the other Allied mains
