Why germans have snipers in moscow and stalingrad?

Germans never started training any snipers until mid 1942. First german snipers took action in early 43. What is this abomination ?
Since snipers are not so important or dominant on battlefield anyeay, why this hist. inaccuracy exist ? I dont think balance will be a problem without german snipers.

This is a pretty stupid complaint lol

it’s probably easier for coding reasons to have all classes to be labelled the same thing instead of marksmen/sharpshooters for germans and snipers for everyone else (note germany did have sniper rifles as part of it’s ww1 supply and some few newer snipers)

Snipers very much existed well before WW2 for the German army.
If you read about their armaments manufacture, you will learn that during the manufacture of their Kar 98ks , they would select the rifles that did the best firing 5 round initial groupings to be assigned to their Sharfschutze.

The Germans didn’t have specialized sniper training until 1942.

They did absolutely use sharpshooters with scoped rifles in Jäger units from the wars outset. They were well aware of the use and utility of sharpshooters from their experience in WW1 and even before.

Many of the Austrian Mountain formations had specialized sharpshooter detachments that were later students at the German sniper schools.

Even if they didn’t…balance.

Early on, German soldiers used a K98 equipped with a ZF41 Scope. It was used more as an advanced sharpshooter than a true sniper. They originally planned to provide 6% of all K98k’s with this scope.

Eventually downgraded in 1944 as the 1.5 magnification was deficient for effective sniping.

I used to own one until the scope became too foggy. Was used on the Russian Front.
