Why does the P-40 have a bigger bomb load than the A-20?

In Stalingrad the A-20 and the SU-2 get the same bomb load of 4x 100kg bombs, while the p-40 gets a 250kg and two 50kg bombs.

The p-40 is also significantly faster, more maneuverable, and has 6x wing-mounted 0.50cal machine guns with plenty of ammunition. This on top of the best bomb load in the campaign seems to make it the undisputed best plane the soviets can use.

Meanwhile, the A-20 gets a few guns and an anemic 400kg of bombs when it’s capable of carrying over twice that weight in ordinance. What’s even the point of using anything besides the p-40 in this situation?

uuuuh the P-40 has 350 kilo in ordnance weight (250+50 is 300+50 equals to 350 with the 2 50s being forged) while the other 2 are 400 kilos in total…this isn’t even rocket science

Right, I may have been a bit unclear. It’s the specific bombs being used.

The 250kg bomb can actually be used to good effect, while 100kg bombs in Stalingrad are barely usable.

The 50kg are a joke, I’ve never killed a tank in Stalingrad with them and rarely get more than a few infantry.

Zing!

So I just started the game up tonight and I see that I was wrong; in addition to the excellent 250kg bomb the p-40 has 2x100kg bombs, not 50kg.

So the fighter has better ordinance in every way measurable than either attack aircraft, and has better forward-firing guns as well.

you notice the decent bomb load is behind a paywall and the free planes get :poop:

not a coincidence.

honestly I would have much preferred A-20B was the one behind the paywall.

Meanwhile, the stuka in Stalingrad gets 3x250kg bombs! What an arbitrary choice to give the soviets two bombers with nearly identical loadouts; both inferior to the first attack aircraft of the Germans campaign
