because the radio operator of the tanks, be it a sherman or a panzer, cannot use his machine gun. That is, it would not be unbalanced, since the T-28 and T-28E tanks have two radio operators using their machine guns without any problem.
Hopefully hull lmgs will be functional someday. Meanwhile, t28 is a joy, or I risk popping out to use the top lmgs of some tanks in combination with the coax lmgs.
The T28 radio operators are not actually using their machine guns, the gunner is controlling them via magic. So a single crew member can simultaneously operate the cannon, three turrets, and three machineguns. That, and the T28 still has mgs it can’t actually use, like the rear facing one. It might be a balance thing, the T28 pays for its anti infantry fire power by being a huge target with poor armor and questionable anti tank capabilities, after all, but yeah, it is annoying to see guns you can’t use.
-laughs in T28E-
They are. I believe if the guy dies, even if you have someone seating in gunner spot, that those lmgs become inoperative. But I’d have to verify.
Actually, I think I know what this is the case.
It isn’t in warthunder, so while it would be cool to see, I don’t think the devs will take the time to make it happen.
If I remember correctly, I could use MGs even if I had only two slots for T-28 available, so it wouldn´t make sense.
But that was a while ago.
My experience using the T28 has very much suggested otherwise. The radio operators are extremely vulnerable, and die a lot, but I’ve never noticed any issues with my mg turrets becoming inoperable.
Does it actually have different ammo? I’ve not had the chance to use the thing yet.
That is a feature that doesn’t exist yet in the game, that’s why.
They do! Regular t28 use shrapnel rounds. Pretty subpar. T28E however will 1 tap german tanks (if it pens) thanks to good shells with just enough boom filler inside!
I do actually appreciate the flexibility the shrapnel rounds offer, but yeah beefier AT rounds would help XD
