I’m happy to see that Darkflow finally added the custom game password function. What I don’t understand is why ftp players aren’t allowed to use this function?.
Yes, I have seen what Keofox said about this, but it still doesn’t make sense. I think that the developers were worried about all custom games being locked with passwords, but are you sure about that? Maybe some games will be open with no passwords.
What I suggest is letting everyone, including ftp players, use the password function. If this seems to cause problems like exploits or all custom games being locked with passwords, then think of the solution. Giving the password function to premium players is no solution. Being able to make a password-locked custom game is something every player must be able to do.
I don’t think Keofox did Darkflow any favors with how he described it, so I’m going to use my magical “mind-reading apparatus” (patent pending) to reinterpret what I think they might have meant to say, but perhaps didn’t want to.
Renting server space costs money. I do not know, in Darkflow’s arrangement with Gaijin Entertainment (or whichever piece of the snail they do business with), whether Darkflow gets to use space on Gaijin’s existing servers OR if Darkflow was allowed to lease their own servers, but either way:
those servers are paid for. They are paid for with premium accounts, merchandise purchases, and all the rest of it.
Despite their claims that they had “plenty of server space” when modding came out, I’ll be frank and say that I highly doubt that is the case. Like most things, I think they greatly underestimated the interest that modding would generate amongst some members of the community.
All of this is to say that custom games (with or without mods) take up a slice of the server space they have rented (or which Gaijin have granted to them), so my guess (again using my mind reading apparatus) is that they at least want to offset the potential server space usage by only giving keys to people who have made a minimum investment in the game.
(And if you buy premium during one of the several sales during the year, you’ll quickly see that it is a minimum investment…they were practically giving it away a few months ago during the May sale)
I bought two years of premium this year(one before the sale and one after the sale).

like if they aren’t getting money from premium squads, stalingrad acess, re-roll perks, buy weapons, gold order soldiers/weapons/vehicles, cosmetics, titles, battlepass, protraits and premium it self…
