Why arent all bombs unified?

When checking the published stats for the bombs I noticed that nearly all 50 kg bombs were unified into the same profile which is understandable from a dev perspective.
But then in the next line was the 45 kg bomb for the US with the exact same stats but 50 mm of pen instead of just 35mm. This is only geting worsed when you remember that this makes the smallest bomb ingame a better bomb than a 60 kg bomb while only having 45 kg itself.

Is there a reason for this or is this a relic from the past that just never was fixed?

I thought the smallest bomb in game is 60lb. (Not so sure tho).

Which is about 27kg…

But what plane uses those small bombs ingame?

Most early unlock fighters or dive bombers

Some late ones too. They are actually really good in taking out infantry.
Personal opinion of mine but 2x 100lbs on a fast aircraft is better (for me) than 2x 500lbs for taking out infantry since you can make probably around 50% more drops due to the higher speed to go and get reloads.
Can still take out tanks if you aim well.

Nah - 4 x 100lb are almost certainly better at killing infantry than 2 x 500 lb - but not 2 - 2 has no advantage - they are neither individually better nor do they cover a longer “beaten zone”.

Vs infantry you want many bombs. Vs thanks you want bigger ones. Both categories can do both jobs, but they each have clear advantages for one of them.

The point I was making was regarding the speed of the aircraft since they re arm quicker. The weights mentioned were just examples. Better have smaller bombs on a fast fighter than bigger bombs on a slow attacker so you can drop more often. Not sure if that came across.

Yes that is true - the 4 x 50kg on the 109’s are good anti-infantry loads.

But it is mostly only an issue in the early war scenario I think - the late war games have fighters with multiple combs and rockets that don’t quite fit…classically the Berlin 190D of course has both 4 x 50 and 1 x 250kg and is a fighter in reality if not in class in Enlisted!!

a P-47 could carry 2x 1000, 1x 500lbs and 12-ish HVARS all at once in real life. In Enlisted it carries like 4 HVARs and 1x 500lbs if I’m not mistaken. I understand though, they want some balance and aircraft can always carry less for whatever reason irl. Flight planning reasons due to reduced endurance or perhaps lower availability of munition restocks.
I plan on getting the Fw190D-9 premium next discount, 8x 50kg sounds fun. Pretty much the fastest aircraft in game (most reloads) and most bombs in terms of number. 3x 20mm also not too bad for strafing, shooting down player aircraft or AI bomber fleets.

Meanwhile I’ve been playing the Su-2 recently. Russian attacker in Stalingrad campaign, 6x 100kg. Also great for carpet bombing. I know I’ve said “more is better” but I suppose 6x 100kg might out do 8x 50kg. Both lets you carpet bomb but slightly spacing the bombs fills up the area in between so your carpet is just as long with the 6x 100 as it is with the 8x 50 but 6x 100kg will make a slightly wider carpet.

Certainly that was its maximum possible load, but you won’t find many pictures of it packing all that because there are all sorts of things that matter in real life that don’t matter in War Thunder - stock is one, but also range, and hte actual intended mission!!

10 HVAR’s and 1 x 500lb

8 bombs but only 2 x 20mm, and 2 x 13mm
