Why are soldier "faces" so expensive?

Before soldier uniform customization was implemented, it used to cost just 1 ticket to change a soldier’s face.

Tunisia still reflects this mechanic, where you can spend 1 ticket and are randomly given a new face (for the soldier)

But in all the other campaigns, it cost 5x more to change the soldier’s face.

1 ticket compared to 5 tickets for the same product

I suggest implementing any of these three things:

1st: Make all the prices the same (hopefully cheaper than 5 tickets)

2nd: implement a NEW feature that allows players to earn soldier-customization tickets, just like bronze and silver tickets. Maybe 1 ticket for every 50,000 or 80,000 or 100,000 xp earned in battle. (this will encourage people to play more, and probably spend more money)

3: When purchasing clothing: allow us to stockpile these items in a inventory that we can equip/unequip our soldiers clothes. (If we do not want to use a specific squad we have customized, we should be able to unequip these clothes to their default settings, and then use these purchased items to customize a different squad that we want to bring into battle)

As of current, it costs about 20 tickets to customize ONE soldier’s coat, face, helmet, and pants/boots.

This is about $6-7 USD per soldier!!!

Absolutely absurd, considering you average 5-7 soldiers per squad.
$6 x 7 soldiers = $42 to fully customize a squad’s helmet, face, jacket, and pants.

3 fully customized squads per campaign faction:
$42 x 3 squads= $126.00 USD

Say you want to customize squads from more than ONE campaign… (do the math)

Because with every 5€ spend in the costumization developers can eat another day

i mean plastic surgery is expensive considering that you have to work around the brain

Because of money random?
Before customization you can only randomly switch face and some of them maybe you will not like some of them.

Because they know new faces are so ugly that people are eager to change.

imo these high customization prices and unreliability of this customization system , along with incapability of devs to properly refund somebody who lost bought customization item that game replaced with completely different customization item … is the most absurd thing ive ever seen in the world of gaming, total fiasco and makes this game looking ridiculous

this must be ( and should have been ) of absolute importance to provide customer with quality services , customer who pay 50 bucks or more for some kind of licence to own an ingame item called premium squad that devs can constantly change, only to never expect any refundation once customer had tried it out in the battle itself and is not satisfied with its performance

New custom system is also garbage because it doesn’t change the backpack slot. this leads to my backpack clipping through the ammo bag of the Germans. Something which wasn’t an issue in SG.

The customization is a single mess.

yup and they still asks money for it in form of gold coins which only moves this mess to even lower depths

they shouldnt even dare to ask money for the system this unreliable in the first place

and then they are suprised that players are leaving , well of course they do once they see this approach of a man who always claims he bears no responsibility for ingame loss that player purchased and ask for refund or for players bad experience in battle with item that is being sold for price of brand new game

When exactly in battle do you guys look into the faces of each other?
Nobody would even recognize how the faces look if they’d be all the same, except in the soldiers/squad menus.
But hey, to each his own…

You mean you don’t recognize your buddy Charlie, from bootcamp?

What about Frank, the guy with the lazy eye?

You mean you aren’t paying attention to your brethren on the battlefield? Not even Billy, your AT soldier who is suffering from PTSD and is always crying at the back of your squad formation?

c’mon man!

well they could make more money by selling premium content for cheaper/large quantities… than they will by over-pricing a product and turning the majority of players away.

You gotta remember, these items are digital products. They are NOT something physical/tangible that you can touch and hold in real life…

Other than “the time it took a developer to create a premium item/unit and implement it into the game”… there are NO costs to reproduce and sell as many premium units as they can.

For example:

  1. say it takes a veteran developer only 30 hours to create a new premium tank that will be added to the store for $60.00
  2. say the developer makes $50.00 an hour
  3. The total cost to DF is $50 x 30 hours = $1,500
  4. They only need to sell 25 units to break even
  5. $1,500 / $60 = 25 units
  6. Every unit sold AFTER the first 25… will be an income/profit
7)They can create 1 unit or 100 units at the exact same cost (which is practically nothing because each unit is a digital copy of the original

With these facts: now you must consider an appropriate pricing point

If you overprice your product at $60, and only 100 players are willing to buy it…
$60 x 100 units = $6,000
$6,000 - $1,500 = 4,500 profit

If you sell the same product for $30, and 300 players are willing to buy it (because NOW they can afford it)
$30 x 300 units = $9,000
$9,000 - $1,500 = $7,500 profit

They can literally cut all of their prices in half, and will likely see a LARGE boost in the total number of units purchased by the customer-pool/player-base.

They could apply this to every single premium item, and they would see a huge boost in total units purchased.

If they can introduce a LARGE variety of new maps into the existing campaigns (as well)… We would likely see a large boost in new players/returning players (which means more money, because people can afford the premium content at half the cost)

It really just depends on which road they wish to take

High price = low number of total units sold
Half Prince = larger number of units sold, happier players

It’s so disgusting every time I see new faces.
One of the ugliest game characters I’ve ever played
I want to recommend a new job to the modeler who made that face.
(The old faces are fine or good)

How can I spend 150 gold to buy that face?

If the character’s face looked very attractive, I would have thought deeply.
But those faces aren’t worth it.

Or maybe it’s intentional.

  1. just Make so many ugly faces

  2. " pay 150 gold. who want to change their ugly faces"

My favorite are the Tunisian soldiers, who’s faces look like they are made from wax or plastic.
