Your reserves are in the ‘managing soldiers’ menu where you select your troops for your squads at the very top
Large reserves were useful when soldiers were leveled thru the academy system, so having more soldier slots was helpful in order to level up your soldiers while you waited for things to finish up in the academy which can take hours.
Now due to the new system, which i do like better btw, you level up your soldiers using bronze instead of just rolling for random soldiers and waiting in the academy. But now there is no need to have large reserves due to these changes.
So they are an obsolete upgrade plus there is no added benefit for the +100 that you get from premium either. So it is just something they will eventually need to take a look at.
I also like a lot of the economy changes they’ve made recently. Now I can finally buy Pistols directly, in stead of having to wait for the “Random weapon generator” bronze wheel to spin in my favor.
I also like the ability to upgrade weapons directly with bronze tokens, instead of having to disassemble several of the same weapon in order to upgrade one of their siblings. It got pretty silly after awhile, especially if you used the random weapon generator to receive the weapons you were just gonna disassemble anyway.
I think it comes down to being a balance issue, at least with the flametroopers.
I could see adding in Mortar specialists to the 9 person infantry squads, the mortar in game is thr 50mm so thats their squad level mortar, and it would fit.
What they could do is make the dedicated mortar section the German 80mm mortar, and have the added specialist Mortar team be the 50mm variant.
As for the flametroopers, given how powerful they have become, I can only surmise it is to balance the game. That way we all don’t have rotating flamtroopers constantly in play and ruining the balance when on a cqc map.
It’s a guess, but a decent one given all the recent changes.
I dont disagree that more variety would be cool, but I’d also not want to break game balance on account of it.
Flamethrower troops are very powerful now. As they should be.
I agree about the flamethrower troops in particular; giving them out to larger squads could easily be unbalancing and lead to a new flamethrower meta that further results in flamethrowers getting nerfed back to useless. That’s a slippery slope argument though.
I do think it would be cool to give engineers an opportunity to bring a single flamethrower, since they’re otherwise an understrength rifle squad. I also like the idea of tiered mortars and giving the rifle squad the smaller variant
Well. Mortar squads can have two mortars and two engineers.
Dont know if it is possible to have more than one in a squad aside engineer squad but even then I guess the devs would make sure that you cant have two and one engineer in a foreign squad.
But agree with the flamers.
