Why are gas loading rifles so weak?

[

I am trying to wrap my head around this. Standard bolt action rifle 30cal… I know America 30-06 is most powerful round and Russian 7.56 54r is more around what .308 is… And everyone else is in between. But I am looking in game and using their numbers… Fg 42 G43 K98 all use German 8mm (7.92) and it says on stat card they shoot around 750m/s muzzle velocity.

I know guns have different size barrels and semi autos and full autos use bullets energy to load the next round… but after it exits the muzzle… All things are equal. So why dose the k98 do about twice as much damage as FG42 and G43? This corresponds with the other nationalitys as well?

The M1 Garand was Americas main battle rifle. It is disappointing to see this happen. The M1 Garand was superiour to the K98 in nearly every way. Yeah the k98 is good for taking an aimed shot but the M1 Garand has stopping power and flatter trajectory.

Balance mostly. IRL getting shot with any of the weapons, pistols included, would down most people are seriously hinder their fighting capability. But if they don’t decrease semi-auto and automatic weapon damage compared to bolt actions you’d never see some weapons used.

What Maephi said basically. But it would be good (for me at least) a little damage buff for the SA weapons. Maybe with a damage more close to certain carabines (like mosin carbine)

You still have recoil to deal with. Plus you have to grind and unlock stuff anyway. Germany has has an armour advantage while America had a small arms advantage. The K98k wouldnt be useless. Nor the Mosin Nagant. Germany also had 30mm mk108. Therr are plenty of things Germany has that are OP to balance the game. Im use to games like that. Pistols about two shot kill depending on the cartridge.

Anyway semi automatic rifles are superiour to bolt action rifles. This is why you have to unlock them down the road in campaign. I just think it is weird that they do this because they have to waste time now making everything double perfect
on top of already doing the research to create weapons in game. It makes adding new content difficult. Why not nerf flame throwers then? Oh wait artillery. Arty and mortars are super OP. Bombs ares the worse omg… Rockets… pshhh. Infranrty dont stand a chance. Those molotov cocktails definatly fo to much damage. Tank HE. You can wipe out the whole team with one 85mm HE round when they are sitting in cap. Those panzerfausts surr do knock tanks in one shot. Better balance that out.

See wherr I am going with this?

When dose it end?

the reason why bolt does 2x damage compared to other guns uses the same round is because white skin snipers just keep complaining about how weak bolts are. And it seem like DF love to see those pigs uses sniper well so they buffed the damage

I thought they nerfed the damage. Have you seen an exit wound from a 30-06? It is the end of what ever you were trying to do. I know the gas piston lowers muzzle velocity bit it also absorbs recoil and makes gun slightly softer sounding. Barrel length matters to. SVT 40 i remember is the best one. But M1 garand is superiour in every way to K98k. It’s just a bigger gun.

Depending on the gun lowering muzzle velocity sometimes helps with accuracy. Like the Finnish Mosin Nagants… They used slightly less powerful round for a more accurate shot.

But M1 Garand with 30-06 is most powerful strongest engineered gun…

I see your Garand and raise you a Berdan II.

10.75×58 mmR? lol The game feels okay. I was just looking at the stats and noticed that the numbers weren’t lining up. But in the physical world there are many features and different effects of all the different types of bullets effecting accuracy, energy retention, recoil etc… And different play styles. We are all Russian now. NATO 7.62x51 and Russians have been using 7.56x54r since 1890’s.

I know the 7.62x51 is the more advanced round though in terms of accuracy. That’s what they tell us. Accurate out to 600 yards. 30-06 is only accurate out to 200yard.

Well, that’s not fair. If you’re going to compare somewhat modern ammo bear in mind that AKs and such are in 7.62×39.

That’s 180-190m’s give or take? I think you’re underselling it. Severely depends on the shooter I suppose.

As others stated, it’s about balancing.

I personally prefer using bolties at range and semis at closer ranges. Part of that is the damage falloff, part of it is the recoil at range makes hitting the two shots harder than just the one.

At this point I think it is more important for the bullet to travel though multiple targets.
