Where would you fight

if you could make a map around one iconic location where would you like to fight historical or fantastical. Fight under big ben or the statue of liberty, fight through the crystal palace of the Japanese imperial castle or the forbidden city. The only limit is that it is a real location that exist before WW2 like the great pyramids. fight over the deck of the titanic or easter island be realistic or crazy cod levels if you want.

I like to think realisitically so I would request the Battle of Vienna or Battle for Budapest.

Some Austrian countryside battles would be cool too.

Likewise Port Moresby, Rabaul, Lae, other New Guinea locations.

Paris and Rome would be good, again they were actually fought over.

Neither a “Battle of Rome” or “Battle of Paris” happened, only in the latter was there a general uprising and a short (but according to the sources “fierce”) fighting in and around governmental buildings between 2nd French Armoured Division and the few remaining Germans in the city (most had either fled or evacutated).

How short? Well, the fighting began the morning of the August 25th 1944, and was largely over the same morning (the Tricolor was flying on top of the Eiffel Tower before lunch), and the official and signed surrender of the city happening 03:00 on the 26th (there wasn’t a sudden switch between fighting and surrender, the Germans were already beaten by this point). The battle was a foregon conclusion, there wasn’t a scenario in which the French didn’t capture Paris…

There are other battles, more important, larger in scope, and more significant to the outcome of the war, the breif skirmish should be a low priority all things considered (and again, no Battle for Rome ever happened, not even a skirmish, it was declared a Open City and Allied forces simply marched in).

Yes of course the title reads what important battle would you fight. Not of course being about set pieces or battles but only history. How could I have read my own post so wrong. It was all about history silly me blathering about massive structures a battlefield could be wet around. Yes I recall in my post the massive battle of Rome and Paris as well as the invasion of London. Not done by the over sexed and over here American soldier but the finest of the Reich.

That it ahistorical is the point, you’ve written a post in the Suggestions section and I pointed out that there shouldn’t be any ahistorical maps, at least for a long good while, I am well within my rights to point out the flaws of your suggestion. You acknowledging that it’s ahistorical does nothing to address the issue, it’s a poor attempt at deflection, just like your barely coherent reply…

No the title simply asks “Where would you fight”, I answered, you didn’t like it for some reason.

What… what nonsense is this… structures to be “wet around”, something about oversexed Americans? Nonsense, incoherent and thinly veiled sarcrasm…

You did I may be a poor writer but I see no suggestions, unless you are asking for the battle of France. I see only thinly veiled attacks on my suggestions. As for the oversexed comments it’s that I did not once list my suggestions as battles historical or otherwise. Where as in a location like Boston is a suggestion. Bunker hill is a battle related but not synonymous. If you feel insulted it becaus you were insulting. As well critique is not suggestion if you had as others done suggested a battle you would have an argument. So please stop throwing rocks in the crystal cathedral glass is expensive.

more Tunisia maps… I love fighting in Desert

What did I do? I’m confused…? Where am I arguing that I didn’t do something? What’s going on?

That sounds like a you problem? Critique isn’t an attack, unless you view every post as a battlefield and the forum a warzone. I don’t, do you?

Was that required? Do realise, you posted a suggestion in the suggestions section, this isn’t a Mess Hall post, so of course I objected to the suggestion of adding Paris or Rome as maps for the game. My reasoning is sound, you’ve still to refute it (acknowledgement isn’t a refutation).

Related how? Battle of Bunker Hill isn’t even in the same century, let alone the same war…

I’m not, and was I? Where? Critique isn’t an insult, neither is stating that I couldn’t understand you or pointing out your sarcasm either. My first reply is hardly a insult either? Please, tell me where I was insulting you, that wasn’t my intention.

I’m not the one writing a suggestion post, I’m the one critiquing a suggestion post.

Huh? What? Look who’s talking…

I thought develpment time was precious and we shouldn’t be discussing new things until the current ones are fully implemented? But of course we both know you don’t live by this rule yourself, because you keep droping weapon post suggestions for rare and/or obscure weaponry. Which don’t get me wrong, I don’t think is a bad thing, just pointing out that you’re a hypocrite.

This is a insult, or at least it should be to a man of integrity.

I have no problem with critique many players s do no even want maps opened to higher br. History is important but for every memorable map there are two forgettable ones. The desert forts, the tank factory, the beached ship, or massive monastery. Other maps are just plant, implant, rock, rock, random building. Just admit no matter how deserved the critique was that’s the limit to it. You answered nor suggested nothing. I knew no major battle happened around the Eifel tower nor colosseum. I have done this with adding diversity on both sides. Most if WW2 was fought with white soldiers , en in particular outside Japan. Yes there are exceptions but if you go by numbers very white very male. My point I would still like to see more black soldiers then the event medic and premium Moroccan squad.

Alright, I’m withdrawing, I just don’t understand you. Have a good day sir.

You said you answered where did I ask if you like the premise. I asked for suggestions not a critique or at least not one alone. Bunker hill is an example a place is not automatically tied to an event. Also suggesting somehow I believe a massive battle happened at the location. Funny I mentioned big Ben and statue of liberty must have been some big battle if you didn’t mention them. As for wasting time that’s everyone. Most suggestions fall into one of a few groups metagaming niche requests and insults. Half the port is an attack on my WW2 knowledge. N please point out where Implied massive battle occured at these location. We both have massive baggage but stop trying to put yours in my overhead bin. Sorry but not sorry to see you go. And if you stop in don’t answer questions no on asked.

I’ll stop writing streams of thought when you stop answering questions no one asked. Was it a bad idea, no was it a bad enlisted idea yes. Was you post right yes, was it an attack yes. If you had just stayed to it’s not history :+1:. But you did attack my knowledge of WW2.
