The JU-188 crew doesn’t use their machine guns to engage enemy aircraft.
Nor does the BF-110’s rearward gunner
I’m pretty sure the Allied A-20 gunner doesn’t work either, because it never seems to defend itself while pursuing behind it.
I’m guessing the other campaigns are suffering the same broken mechanics?
What happened? They used to work pretty efficiently, and with some defensive maneuvering I could rely on my A.I. to shoot down enemy aircraft that were chasing me.
With the current conditions, the outcome of an air vs air engagement is often determined by who can get behind the other player’s aircraft first, and then pacing their speed and movements until they can be shot down.
Without functional machine gun crews (within the aircraft), air to air battles are a huge downgrade to game quality.
Especially when you start factoring in other variables, such as:
-AA guns not working properly/consistently
-No team communications to ask for AA support
-The best German plane for tank killing, is worthless without gunners (the JU-188)
-The equivalent allied P-47’s HVAR spamming is OP in regards to the splash damage/AOE that instant-kills top tier tanks
-Without working gunners, the P-47 (and all allied aircraft) defeats the JU-188 every single time.
-But when the machine gun crews work, the JU-188 has the ability to defend itself and defeat allied aircraft.
Without properly working Anti-Aircraft, and without the aircraft’s machine gun crews… the only viable option is to use a squad slot for a fighter plane, which is not effective for ground units.
It’s either use a squad slot for the bomber for anti-tank/anti-infanty support (but only a 60 second lifespan, due to being an easy kill for allied aircraft),
or use a slot for a fighter, soley for the purpose of countering HVAR spamming to help your own team’s infantry/vehicles survive on the ground?
Or do you spend money so that you can have both?
Or do you spend more money, so that you can have both and a tank?
Or do you double down even further, so that you can have four vehicle slots, plus four+ infantry choices?
My confidence in this game is reaching an all time low, and I’m wondering who’s in charge of this show?
Management should be delegating employees to fix these issues in a timely manner… I mean it used to work before, so it’s not like anybody has to re-invent the wheel or anything.
Nobody is going to appreciate the BR system or campaign merging, when it comes to actually playing matches and consistently experiencing game-mechanics that aren’t even working. All that produces are players who learn about the issues, and then figuring out ways to exploit the game for higher XP farming.
Or maybe it’s intentional? It’s tough to say, because there’s no communication from the developers to the playerbase.
