What's your favorite and unfavorite map

helo people.

little experiment on a saturday to find out a couple of things.

so, this is a small thread, where i’m going to ask you two simple questions.

  1. what’s your favorite map/s, and why you like them / love them ?

  2. what’s your most hated map/s, and why you hate / dislike them ?

it would be great if you could be more specific about the map, or rather, mission and provide some screenshots. but that’s not essential.

more yapping

why?
well, since they crushed custom games and editors through the " answering your question " type of thread. ( or rather, left for dead as usual )

i’d figure i could use my designer and editor “expertees” on matters such as making less shitty certain maps with more cover / less rubbles, more open roads and so on and on. to perhaps improve maps since they were looking for just that. and well, i don’t see anyone else doing it. so… might as well be me.

( if… i’ll feel motivated enough. and my schedules allows it )

for me, it would be,

favorite map:

i guess moscow, since has been the most polished one and generally have wider areas and normandy ones.

most disliked map:

i don’t dislike most of the map, as they have their charm, but for me, pacific ones are a bit unplayable. mostly because are open ground with murder hills. and, tunisia ones as being just… empty open fields.

and i guess selow heights. for being just narrow ( despite being my favorite in term of visuals )

Stalingrad (urban), especially communist street.

I love brutal CQC and the map itself is beautiful, its very recognisable and overall a great design, you can always find a way to flank, grey zones are there but not too restricting, I always felt like that those grey zones were really there for the players so they can’t get spawn camped while on most other maps grey zones are just bad mechanics.

I also like D-day because duh iconic and cool bunkers with MGs

Also Star Wars map (something village in Tunisia campaign) I like how it has underground tunnels which I always exploited, loved to outsmart shermancucks camping by building a rally inside those tunnels.

Dislike:
Every pacific map except New Georgia (they too open)
Swanp in Normandy
There are many I dislike since this game has many mid maps but I don’t detest them enough to name them.

(Honorable mention: I like river crossing because its so different from most urban maps Soviets face in high BR, its almost as good map as Town was in H&G)

simple reason go brrrrrr

most like: battle of the bulge maps
reason: because i can flank and it pretty big and decent amount of cover

dislike map: most stalingrad’s and berlin’s map
reason: too open and barely any cover and not a lot of flank route

Favourite map is Omer. Omer has everything a good map needs. It has enough cover for infantry while still having some more open areas for tanks to work. Most of the objectives are balanced and the grey zones are large enough for building rallies that wont get found instantly. The map provides epic close quarters combat that benefits assaulters especially while also having use for classes such as snipers and mortars. Vehicles and infantry are in perfect balance and the map doesnt have conquest variant which is good. I also really love french cities and i hope to see paris one day in the game. (The map is also fun for street races with apcs).

Least favourite map is quarry from moscow. The map is too open and the terrain benefits too much vehicles while infantry gets often farmed. Most of the objectives offer little to no cover and always gets cleared by HE shells. This map is the only time i have seen multiple objectives lacking defenders due to it being nearly impossible to stay alive on point when greyzone tanks bombard you. This makes the gameplay boring and unfun when the map only supports farming instead of trying to win. The map also looks visually unpleasant and i wouldnt mind if it got removed entirely

My favourite map is definitely Rzhev. It’s in winter (my favorite season, I just love white camo, coats and so), it’s pretty horizontal, and it’s decently large.
It only has one flaw, and that’s that one objective. I don’t think I even need to say what objective I have in mind.

My least favorite map is anything from Tunisia. I’d rather not even comment on that.

Overall I don’t care about the map at all. I’m here to shoot guns, not for sight seeing.

But I dislike berlin. I can’t really say why though. Just feels meh and plays badly 90% of cases (really, I can think of only one fun match I played in berlin). Maybe it’s because how ppl play there, idk.

Berlin is fake urban combat, most of the time you fight in the mud in front of the Reichstag or in shitty low-budget Seelow-Heights.

fav map airfield map in pacific, hated one all factories maps and in general whole soviet moscov/stalingrad maps, I hate them with all of my heart

I don’t like the train station map in Berlin. On maps in Moscow when I get terrible teammate I can flank to take out the enemy rallies. On the train station map the flanks have very little cover, it’s either destroyed cars or wooden crates that can be shot through. The only way to play is to brute force your way to the objective which is not my playstyle.

Generally Berlin maps feel very claustrophobic, gray zone tend to be shaped in a way that would converge players onto the objective, vehicles are channeled through narrow chokepoints that could be blocked by wreckages as the match progress.

Favorite map: The tunisia map with the underground homes because I like the tunnel access routes and tanks are not too OP and not too weak imo

Least favorite map: hot take, but the rzhev conquest map. I feel like it is USSR sided but it might just be all the good players being in the USSR faction

tunisia+moscow
interesting setting, very good mapdesign.

stalingrad, berlin, pacific

absolute unplayable maps, disbalance on high tier weapons and players interest in factions.
