Yeah, that’s what a lot of people are picking up on, but McCain wasn’t famous then, it just happened to coincide 
The song itself was originally written in the late 80’s, and sung by Chizh in the 90’s.
The band I discounted is also famous, even Vlad’s favorite.
It should be taken with irony and sarcasm

Yes, you guessed it, even our favorite camels have been chronicled. 
Ironic that the performer is a pop singer from Kiev who sang about Palmyra and the contract. But that was in the mid-'10s.

You’re right again, the band Chizh is already legendary among Russian speakers. It’s a classic.

Well, in general, I recommend to all who read this post, the movie Brother or Brat, it is on YouTube with English subtitles. This is an interesting movie of the era of gangsterism and horror of the 90s in the post-Soviet space. To some extent it is a Russian “Taxi Driver” with action and a wonderfully selected soundtrack.

So, you think it is perfectly sane to have your paratroopers climb out from the inside of the plane, crawl until you have gotten onto the plane’s wing, and jump into enemy territory, all without any fighter escorts?
Well the paratroopers have to get out of the plane somehow, there’s nothing particularly odd about them going backwards over the wing - I suspect it would be much harder to go forwards over the wing.
And given the video is from 1937 there really isn’t need for a fighter escort for a peacetime exercise that isn’t going to land in enemy territory.

If only there was a way to jump out the side of a plane so you wouldn’t have to climb out the top, get on the plane’s wing, and then slide off.
If only the Soviets had C-130’s in 1937… and if only the shot you had was actually from Vyazma in 1941…
Also of course the Soviets used what they had, which was a very large bomber design - not something that had ever been designed as a troop carrier or passenger aircraft.
And it still isn’t actually insane, and I note that your quote says there WAS a fighter escort - even if outnumbered and outclassed.
