Make an open world shooter. I know it sounds weird. But if we were to make a game like Bladestorm or some for of large scale battle with many different squads fighting over several different points. We could even put in a multi in game day system (like Bladestorm, after X time game stop and they evaluate who is currently winning, everyone then redeploys and goes back to fighting next in game day) it would be so cool.
This could even open up the opportunity for night time modes and other amazing story driven modes or just plain old fun scenarios. Possibly even recreating famous battles.
This could be implemented as an event or a separate game mode. Maybe even be a part of a clan system (we could call clans divisions or something like that). There would be clan wars with the large scale battles.
What y’all think, and would it help or hurt the game in its current state. And what about in 5 years?
i would like giant maps with 100+ players, but game has problems with 20 players cause of bad servers/shit netcode.
It’s already pretty good, Enlisted has a lot of small scenes that can be destroyed, as well as squad soldier units, which are rare in multiplayer FPS game
If you have opened the editor, you will know how big the map is and how detailed it is. Although it is just copy and pasted, the scenery is still amazing. The Moscow Volokolamsk winter map has the best map quality.
If you’ve played Big Action Mod I made, you’ll realize that this one doesn’t need 100 players at all, 10v10 already has pretty intense battles, and everything is runnable and executable, of course I think 15v15 or incrementally will better
10v10 with bots is underwhelming. if you played M&B:NW or planetside 2, you would see carnage that 100+ players can bring. M&B:NW 200 players matches were fun even if it lagged (150 players without lag iirc in 2014-2015) and it also had some destroyable parts of maps. yes enlisted has small scale destroyable map, but that can be optimized not to actually hog server resources (if it hogs now). think that biggest resource spender on server is actual calculation on bot actions.

I get where you are coming from, and perhaps in 5 years that’s something to consider. While many players are on PC, there are also many on console. Until more of the console population has switched over to the new gens, I don’t really see this as an option.
However, I think adding more destruction to the existing maps would be possible and very beneficial to the game.
