What next? any news regarding the editor?

as much as sound mods are welcomed, ( i doubt it required a large portion of the editor team for something that was mainly regarding web development for the dedicated page )

question is.

what next?

any forseable updates?
any long required fixes?

idk. like;

  • how long t’ill we’ll get better tools?

because the pitifull “”“”“terraforming”“”“” is getting old relatively quicly.
which i highly doubt level designers themselves uses that for maps in our editor that we have.

like this shit don’t work:

good luck trying to make a cliff either.
( the one that this editor makes me want to jump off )

  • when will be able to try our goddamn profiles inside the editor without having to make maps, and sunk lot of time in a error and trial?

  • when will we be able to upload custom textures or custom models for example, from crsed into enlisted?

is an extension pack to much to ask since we already have bones and partial method to upload custom textures?

  • when will we receive updates and things to follow for xps over customs?

last major updated regarding the editor it self has been more than 7 months ago.

as much i understand it’s not really a priority,

what’s the bloody point of saying things like:

which. the only major thing, was the entities.blk ( long overdue i might add )

again, i don’t wanna sound like a spoiled brat, but holy hell if any relative improvement is taking it’s sweet *** time.

let alone actual introduction or changes.

so… what next?

where’s that communication that a year ago has been talked about?

the sound of silence is getting deafening for us that we have to put up with this… stuff every goddam time from the past 2 to 3 years by now.

What kind of editor can we talk about when they spend three months making unnecessary optics for tanks and that’s it.

there’s a lot that goes unanswered…

enlisted editor is one of the most less-user-friendly that i have ever saw.

that it says alot from someone who used to make maps for arma, garry’s mod, and few others :skull:

like, it takes ages to do one of the most basic things.

i don’t understand.
is that on purpose? or literally 10 people for the whole development?
i honestly don’t get it.

( even less when there are countless of suggestios and bug reports for the editor it self, and yet, almost 3 years and still nothing. )

I don’t think the problem is the number of developers, I’ve seen projects where a team of 7 people added more content in a year than Enlisted has ever seen in its entire life. In general, they have a lot of strange excuses, some problems that they supposedly cannot solve are solved even in mobile games. Editor, hmm… sometimes I think this is some kind of social experiment.

gaslight challenge

dunno what else call it xd…

but yeah, it’s honestly getting depressing.

Well… Custom content is still not fully implemented. Some technicial problems. And also it’s probably currently it’s highest priority for editor.

All what I can to tell… Some techicial problems, but devs working on it. I hope they will sovle them.

In next updates will be some not big bugfixs. I didn’t check editor much in latest openDev, but I know that we will able choice p2, p3 and p4 options when adding new properties in editor. We can add them without editing scene.

Well… A bit off-topic, but here probably better use ground holes that also removes grass…

any forseable updates?

Confirmed features (either by dev or datamine)

  • Dynamic Object Placement (already made a post, it’s a bigger deal than you would think, you can generate vegetation on terrain)
  • Custom level binaries (with DaEditor, could be huge, all they have to do is give us the resources of enlisted, + you will be able to burn scene.blk into BIN if i remember correctly)
  • entity mods (code exists on dev to add perks to any _item)
  • Custom geometry/models (asset_manager entity exists but no idea if/how it works)

how long t’ill we’ll get better tools?
terraforming

I don’t think it will get any better ever. The devs edit the terrain by editing the heightmap. The terraformer is only used to make fine adjustments. See Breaking Dead event.

like this shit don’t work:

It ususally works, except when it doesn’t. lol. Yeah it can break and forget the grass eraser positions.

( the one that this editor makes me want to jump off )

lolol

when will we be able to upload custom textures or custom models for example, from crsed into enlisted?

If the devs are willing to reveal how asset_manager entity works, right now, IF said entity accepts dxp and grp files.

In fact i have two maps waiting for editor support. (the sample maps i showed before).

again, i don’t wanna sound like a spoiled brat, but holy hell if any relative improvement is taking it’s sweet *** time.

Can’t argue with that.

Also having to figure out almost everything on your own takes A LOT of time.

Gaijin products are infamous for having spaghetti code. Like holy hell ONE gun has like 3 different BLKs:

  • They store anim offset in one file
  • Item define in another
  • Bullet for said gun in yet another file

Also there wasn’t a stream on twitch for a month now, i hope it’s not a bad sign…

what sort of content are we speaking.

what a surprise.

well at least thanks for being honest.

are we running on a atari machine or some sort?

gha…

everything get touched and everything somehow gets more problematic/worse.

trust me, i would if it wouldn’t be for the fact that terraform it’s generally unreliable and takes huge space on blk mining the overhal performance and not allow my own mod to load for multiplayer because apparently the recipe for disaster is:

custom profiles for players & bots + terraform + grass eraser + averange size of prefab rendinsts + reindist remover = a mod that cannot be uploaded as it wont fully load over the game.

that’s… sweat. i suppose.

but like…
i m p r o v e m e n t s & f i x e s ?
to the things we have…

so the guts feelings and actual nightmares are real.

what’s the point of a half baked tool that you need something else to use in order to refine?

wha… how :exploding_head:

putting everything into one was that diffult?

yeah right.

unless it’s some of you guys actually datamining or finding stuff, it will probably hidden because no official guides get done either way :rage:

this thing is so giant that i have no clue where to look for most basic stuff.

want to make a ballistic shield using the zombie tools?

yeah. good luck.

want to make simple effing doors that can be interacted with and can get destroyed?

good effing luck.

want to make simple effing windows that won’t get destroyed by just running to it yet, destroyable by bullets or explosions?

no-uh

want to put a simple bots inside a machinegun?

yeah sure. just open 5 fucking blks, make a mush-potato and hope it will work.

how do they seriously expect people to keep this stuff running if the only sources of knowledge and understanding is from other forum members and hope that they stumble upon the answer you are looking for.

taking as granted as if the community will always be here given the poor state.

what happens if ( let’s hope not ) some of you chaps disappears?

a portal filled with half baked mods not even remotely interesting because you have to sell your sound to time and be hopeful to stumb upon the right blk.

i just don’t understand.
am i the only one?

i get that i have massive skill issue into modding, but it shouldn’t be that hard for the love of god.

( well, thanks to some of you, i can make sort of good mods. … if it wasn’t for the fact that i have 6 mods sitting in my computer because i can’t upload them as they are too big that half of the stuff won’t load or it literally makes the server crash. don’t get me wrong, don’t wanna quit, but it’s seriously a thought that keeps popping up in my brain lately. ever so present with lack of official responses and etc. )

a portal filled with half baked mods not even remotely interesting because you have to sell your sound to time and be hopeful to stumb upon the right blk.

Yeah, but how does one decide what is trash and what isn’t?

That’s why everything that gets uploaded stays without moderation (except those which break rules ofc).

what’s the point of a half baked tool that you need something else to use in order to refine?

I have a theory why, but i don’t want to speculate too much.

unless it’s some of you guys actually datamining or finding stuff, it will probably hidden because no official guides get done either way

I would have SO many technical questions, but there is nobody to answer ))):

IMHO the editor IS user friendly, compared to other editors/sdks i have used.

Custom content. At least textures (dxp.bin) and models (grp). There is a high probability that we will also have tools. There may also be a separate level editor, but I’m not so sure here.

Not related to asset_manager, but guides will be. The appearance of sound mods with a guide is the beginning. However, I am not sure that they will cover almost all the things.

Probably here easier and faster to make a seperate scene than a level + less size…

Well… I’ll ask about it later.

Nor really…

Well… I’m not planning on disappearing yet. And even if it does, I would like to make sure that the some guides come out.

It may be more convenient, but this is the first editor I remember in which if something works in test mode, it is not a fact that it will work in the game itself.

welll…

yeah, now we do have some sort of problems, but what i meant is, thanks to regulars like you, devenddar, tommy, and few others, we can provide better quality mods because of features and other things.

things that should have been provided through proper documentations.

like, changing a weapon damage.

or projectile and other basic things.
which i, personally, only found out thanks to the trio.

well it’s not like we are gonna get an answer either.

yep.

i bet everyone does.

well… i can’t say much for your experience.

but again, garry’s mod, a 2006 game had basic tools to do most of the stuff that in enlisted requires a blk or an injuction of nodes etc.

not to mention.
if you are trying to put a decorator, check your soldiers profiles, tweak things that are time consuming and requires milions of restarts.

have you ever tried to place a decal on a tank? outright impossible.
mind you, on simple things.

good luck changing colors on stuff.
best you can do, is a texture. but that overides the details and other stuff.

let alone trying to actually come up with something new and sophisticated.
like perhaps a usable shield… or… idk, a simple car with a machinegun.

you can’t just do them.

and if you can, it’s some half baked method that requires some path with the devil.
mostly because it’s not straight forward as one might think.

hell, we don’t even have scripts or timers to set things activate at a specific time.

welp. another can of worm i presume.

anyway, that’s a beginning i suppose.

ETA 2 years by now?

i hope you are right about that because the previous " guides " left much to desire.

matter of fact, i’m just saying, if we had better guides, i’d probably wouldn’t be every week bothering you in dms to do things that aren’t precisely clear.

maybe, i bite more than i can chew. but still.

but it doesn’t make sense.

what difference does it make it if split it into a level from a blk?

it will struggle and will not load either way.

i mean… i’m probably wrong on that one.
i don’t really know how that work to be honest.

well, i was more talking about qualities of many mods.

if it wasn’t for the trio of you carrying the entire modding community, we would proably have more of those low quality mods.

i guess i should have worded it better, but i’m not sure how.

well, i hope for anyone sake you don’t…

but never say never :worried:

so…

true.

like the color grading node / tone map…

Yeah it less user friendly than the softwares I use for 3D printing and programming

Man the Enlisted editor, it’s like a biplane in a world of jet fighters. This seriously needs improvement, but as I have said before, and will say again

“Darkflow is a hut in Russia with Euthymia, Keofox, and Enygmia all running it off of an old potato server and some old Soviet era computers”

i want if we can have a roadmap news or FAQ every week or month?

Maybe they can arrange it once a month by making enlisted custom game a better place with small update or bug fixes
