I heard that panzer4h models skirts allows it to withstand shaped charges how true is this?
I don’t there’s extremely noticeable difference ingame. It’s just all about fluff.
so you grind all that way just to get a different looking panzer4
Main difference is turret traverse:
Pz.IV J has 5.1°/s traverse stock or 6.0°/s upgraded.
Pz.IV H has 11.9°/s stock or 14.0°/s upgraded.
So it’s a very noticeable improvement!
And also a bit of weight difference: 25.4 vs 26.4.
Side skirts don’t protect against HEAT in game.
Yep, that would make sense cuz:
Ausf. J was considered a retrograde from the Ausf. H.
Born of necessity, to replace heavy losses, it was greatly simplified to speed production. The electric generator that powered the tank’s turret traverse was removed, so the turret had to be rotated manually.
Too bad, that turret traverse is no longer a visible stat…
This ^
I wish it protected against HEAT AT weapons at least it would make up for its lack of armor compared to jumbo
Wait until merge, you’ll most probably will not be facing jumbos anymore.
Pz. IV J and H are both BR 7 while the Jumbo is 8, so you’ll probably encounter Jumbos pretty regularly.
honestly, i suggest to get the H.
much better than the J. ( and you can get it through gold order too )
visually better looking, and above all, functional.
the J is… just worse in almost every aspects.
Means your tank gets stuck not only on tree lugs but also on very thick grass lol
It does that by detonating the shaped charge before it hits the tank rendering shaped charges useless and HE rounds (in real life)
Historically the Pz IV J is just a simplified version of Pz IV H to speed up production.
The slower turret speed is simply because version J had a hand cranked turret instead of version H’s powered turret.
Desperate times, required desperate speed up processes.
Panzer IV J being the Kriegsmodell version of the Panzer IV with the downgrades to simplify production
But there is no such history here.
So I think the OP should choose panzer4h and have FUN without any additional decisions.
Thank you for clarification, I was wrong. I completely forgot about annoying ±X MM.
This is false. The purpose of Schürzen (metal skirts) on the German vehicles was to be able to protect against Soviet anti-tank rifles. It was not designed to “predetonate” shaped charged weapons.
