Three groups red must have, orange nice to have and yellow people want in enlisted. Red must include WW2, Squad based gameplay, combined arms infantry air and tanks, at least us and Germany, a tech tree. Orange Japan and USSR, upgrade for infantry tanks and planes, infantry load outs, engineer structures like rallies and sand bags. Yellow UK and Italy faction, bigger buildable weapons and defensive structures, factions like Franc. Call of duty, battlefield v, red easy, hell let loose are not alternatives, post scriptum. Enlisted is a squad based game and no six idiots in bfv is not a squad. Unless they suddenly require voice chat moderators and a tether between soldiers.
If there was a replacement for Enlisted, DF would definitely be dead by now with this approach.
Your requirements are too specific and not very applicable and I doubt such a game even exist.
Fine a squad based WW2 fps, as in its my squad. My point is people are full of it it enlisted or nothing. Without squads war thunder infantry is just a sim based battlefield. That is no enlisted alternative exists.
ER2 might be the one that best meets your requirements. Although its overall quality is not very good at present, it has a very promising future.
So in easy red 2 I can manage a squad of bot and is not just a single player multiplayer experience. Nope single player with human team mates I want 3 to 9 bots that belong to me not squad mates that are human controlled and can do what they want. I donât want battlefield v . But thanks for trying, bargain I mean my squad as I own multiple soldiers I use and direct so bots . If you like these games fine but they are not enlisted, enlisted is a âsquadâ: game not a squad game as in random placed into the same . So imagine an rts played in first person.
ARMA 3 could be what you are looking for, might be an older title, but even just the base game offers huge battlefields, vehicles, planes, squads (including being able to place/order your men about) and many, many, many high quality mods that you can play (including WW2 mods). Only downside is that it is not F2P, so you need to buy at least the base game.
Other downside is: literally nothing works right in the game, youâre fighting with the controls more than with any enemies, every gun feels god awful to shoot, it takes about a year to do anything, the bots are both braindead and will just dome you through solid visual cover every single time
and if enlisted had an âalternativeâ or a âcompetitorâ than people could either leave for that game or force the game to improve. its like complaining about katamari when its it.
This is true. Right now Enlisted is still probably the best option, even though I am on here daily lambasting Dark Force for a lot of things I find wrong about the game. However, I have Battlefield five, Easy Red, Red Orchestra, Darkest Hour, Hell let loose and a couple more I can at the moment remember the game titles, and Enlisted is the best IMOP.
My Enlisted game playing is down considerable from what it once was, and I am spending more time now playing other games then Enlisted. Other meaning Racing games like World of Outlaws, Sniper Elite and at times Zombie Army 4.
For me, I am at that tipping point where I love the game, just tired of Dark Force ignoring the players desires. I understand they canât respond to 10k suggestions, but when they just seem to ignore the same requests that go on day after day, month after month and year after year, itâs time to stop giving them my time and money. So far, I am hanging on. Like with War Thunder, I most likely will never quit, however, I only play War Thunder once a year or so, so if I get to that, I am not helping Enlisted with player numbers.
@TnT-Zealoth - I am not sure if you seen them but there are actually a few mods that fix the issue with the AI being able to see you through dense foilage. Also there are a few AI mods, some of which do a pretty good job (within the limitations of the engine) like for example make the AI enemy trying to surround and flank the players, etc. (this works surprisingly well).
Donât forget that ARMA is a military simulation while Enlisted is a lot more action & arcade oriented, so in the former one hit will usually kill you. I do not mind that things take time (I am not one of the instant gratification generation), and the maps are a LOT bigger, so going anywhere usually takes a while (especially if you are on foot) - this is something that I do miss in Enlisted.
That said, I do agree that ARMA has other issues, some engine related, some control related and yes the AI most definitely has problems that seem to have been in game since the days of âOperation Flashpointâ (the great grandfather of the ARMA series). But overall I find that it is not a bad game, it runs well and looks alright for its age, especially since one can use mods to tweak the gaming experience to oneâs liking â and the ARMA modding community has done and is still doing an amazing job all around IMHO
Ive tried playing Antistasi and similar other experiences with friends and with randoms. Ive tried some campaigns. Admittedly Iâm just too blind to play whereâs Waldo games (same with HLL and Squad)
But the experiences were utterly miserable. Everything in Arma wastes inordinate amounts of time and at least in Antistasi either ended up with a braindead bot turkey shoot or everyone dying to some nonsense after having wasted like 2 hours organising lol
So I donât really see how it would be a replacement for Enlisted. Sure, its a little too arcadey at times, but in balanced matches there is more to the game than just mindlessly running around in circles like in CoD of BF
I agree, there - at least as far as I am aware - no other game like Enlisted out there that is F2P and provides exactly the same experience.
I would consider ARMA 3 more like a âhardcoreâ game (especially in PvP it is tough as nails and one dies a LOT - if you ever have played one of those custom âKing of the Hillâ matches, it can be a cruesome and frustrating experience) and spotting can indeed be difficult at times. But it is, by far, not the absolute worst game in regards to spotting units: In my humble experience that sad title belongs firmly to âWar of Rightsâ which is just an absolute gigantic shitshow - if you excuse that language - in regards to spotting, in regards to bugs and in regards to featuring the most toxic community that I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing in several decades of online gaming. Another game series that is pretty difficult in regards to spotting is âVerdunâ, âTannenbergâ and âIsonzoâ (all 3 set during WW1) as the enemy targets can be pretty far away, so it is extremely straining on the eyes to search for those very tiny dots on the horizon (which is a shame as otherwise those titles are not bad).
One game that is F2P and set in WW2 is âWW2 Onlineâ (I am sure you have come across it in the past), but it is pretty outdated now. The nice thing there is that it offers a very large Europe map (I wonder if/when the follow up title âChokepointâ will see the light of day, it just might give Enlisted a run for the money down the line).
ARMA Reforger is alot less clunky than previous ARMAs. I really enjoy it
looking forward to ARMA 4
@Myrm1don - I also do wonder how ARMA 4 will turn out! (and if they EVER will get round to fixing all the bugs and issues that have plagued the series since the days of âOPFâ - like for example the AI pathfinding,âŚ)
