What happened to the patch where the AI were going to man AT-guns or MG nests if close by and you don't man them?

As the title states. I thought the AI were going to crew the guns, and it seemed they did for a week or two. However, I have purposely built items, just to see, and nope! Do I have to give an order I am unaware of to man them?

Thanks, I would like empty stuff to get manned, even though the AI probably can’t hit a barn door at 3 meters.

Giving orders on an emplacement is occupied by the “deconstruct this” function. But there has been demand for AI taking cover more autonomously, and I think having them occupy an emplacement when the player hasn’t used it in a few seconds (first come, first serve :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:) would suit that concept well.

That feature still exists, it just depends on several factors such as:

  • Where the HMG or MG Nest was built at
  • Which direction that Nest is facing at (I’ve seen allies build them backwards before)
  • If any nearby human players are close by
  • If a human player is actively occupying it

By no means those few points are the whole list, but understanding those 4 points specifically can help you place them in spots for the AI to take command of (and yes you will get Engineer Assist Score for every kill they get too). I hope this helps!

also keep in mind this feature concerns squads controlled by AI, not your own AI-squad members.
