What happened to Berlin?

Berlin used to be my favourite campaign. Some timezones saw Germany dominate, others say Russia dominate, but generally you could get good games whichever side you chose.

But for the last couple of months it has been nothing but Germany steamrolling. Usually not a single point taken if on attack as Russia, nobody assaulting the point, no rally points, nothing remotely useful.

It’s boring as hell now. What changed?

Announcement for merge/tech tree update. So basically every German player is there to grind out things like KT or FG II before merge.

As is known to all, Axis won in Berlin and lost in Stalingard and Moscow because in 1945, German VGs have Sturmgeschützauf Fahrgestell Panther, FG-42 II and MP43/1 in abundance. If we rewind the timeline from 1945 to 1941, we could see the downfall of the Third Empire.

Bad players that is all. Even in Stalingrad the Axis starts to win.

Allies are slower to capture points, they have fewer reinforcements. The developers simply decided to make the game easier for German players who play against the Soviets.

Conversely, the Norman allies, as well as the Axis in Berlin, Moscow and Stalingrad, instantly take points and bathe in reinforcements

Don’t know if you know that, but AI can also build rally points (not often enough though), perhaps ammo crates too, they can call artillery and sometimes are just more useful/better than some real players.

I know that some players are still unaware of it to this day.

This is just the old way of balancing things in this game, playerbase is shifting between sides/campaigns, but the old “balance” stays where it was, so now the side that dominated before after the players shift is struggling even more.

bots actually build since few updates so you cant recognize them from that (e.g. skadzen2809 is bot).

devs balance maps based on global statistics and when playerbase shifts balance gets totally f*cked. devs are slow to respond to playerbase changes and fixing maps balance. ideally games should be balanced per match basis depending on the players in both teams, or if they cant do that on weekly basis based on teams performance in past week.

This should not be tied to the nation at all, only to the attack and defense side

This is why this campaign is so unplayable for Soviet with the Soviet team only getting noobs while Germans have full sweatlords. We have a faction trend problem because of the announcement of the merge in the case of Berlin right now.

This is why balancing by messing around ticket count, ticket bleed and cap times is not the way to go and it only made the faction trend problem even worse.

it should be balanced by number of players/bots and further by strength of team in every match. so if it is one team full of sweatlords and other full of noobs, noobs should get advantage like faster cap points, more reinforcements etc.
still it probably wont help them if team strengths are too far apart, but games would be more interesting.

Well. If so, they probably wouldnt have changed the ticket rates.

I hope the devs have the presence of mind to reset ticket and capture time balance with the merge. New clean slate for the big update and then they can make adjustments again.
But if they keep the current balance as the baseline to make new adjustments from, then this nightmare of trending factions might never end.

Germany just fled from Normandy because allies are now played by humans.

They’ll return for a lil bit in a few days with new paras.

I recall it being just as bad before the announcement. It’s basically impossible to max out the campaign in time without the desire to use one of the unlocks to off yourself.
