What do you think about it?

It would be interesting to see something huge and specific in the game.
By the type of armored trains, cruisers (although this is absurd, because I have no idea about a large fleet), flamethrower tanks, strategic aviation?(As Pe-8 in WT,its too bad idea)

Well, armored trains and flamethrower tanks could be an interesting thing.

  • Armored trains.

They definitely cannot be made obtainable at some level, it would be absurd.
Therefore, you can make a special mode (like destruction), side A protects the train, side B must destroy it.
This idea looks more or less tolerable.
However, it should rather be an additional objective.
It is advisable for each side to get its own armored train.
And not as with engineering buildings.

Moscow
The Soviet side can be given the
“Victory” Armored train No. 638 of the OB-3 type

I could cite several variants of Soviet trains, but it is quite long and difficult, there is much less information about trains than about tanks and planes.
Me did not find modern German armored trains in the 41st year, only in the 42nd and later.
In this case, can make only one armored train, but in two versions, captured by the Germans and the Soviet one.

Normandy
There clearly cannot be American armored trains in Normandy (and did they have them after the local civil war?Landing armored trains xD)

Germany AT may well be.
For example, this one is suitable for years.(not everyone is on the eastern front, right?)
1/35 Trumpeter BP 42-44 Armoured Train

Again, there is very little information about them.

Tunis

It looks like no armored trains were used in Tunisia.

Berlin
Well, there’s also nothing new, the same trains for germany.

For the Soviet side, something is newer, although in 45 the armored trains are already somehow completely outdated.
Armored train No. 702 “Ilya Muromets”

If they are added, then only together with the Seelow heights.

In general, armored trains, in my opinion, may well be a feature of some companies.
Personally, I would really like to see them.Somehow there is too little information about armored trains in general.

  • Flamethrower tanks

Apparently, if add them, then need to redo the current system of levels.
Or make it a premium, which would be too unique.

Moscow

Soviet side:
XT 26

Just t26 with flamethrower and DT.
OT 34

T-34 with a flamethrower instead of a course machine gun.
It looks like an OP.
Germany side:
PZ 2 D with flamethrower(Apparently, he has no other weapons.)
image
This is not enough for a normal balance in my opinion.

Normandy
Nothing. If there are any flamethrower tanks, they are too weak to resist the pz 4\ Sherman.
Berlin
The Soviet side can have kv 8 and OT 34.
I have no idea about germany FT.
Tunis
Maybe add two Italian flamethrower “tanks”.
This thing,tankette…
Carro CV-3/33 L.F. (Lancia Fiamme)

L6/40 L.F

Well, it looks more like a tank and he also has a machine gun.

End
In my opinion, it is impossible to balance flamethrower tanks normally.
But an armored train can be.
Thank you for reading, and I will ask you to correct my mistakes if there is suddenly a specialist in such a highly qualified vehicle.
Most likely, I wrote very vaguely the topic turned out to be shitty.

When you said armoured train instantly got reminded of this.

Well, Battlefield 1 is one of the last and only games with armored trains.

I don’t see any practical way for a player-controlled armored train to be implemented.

Flamethrower tanks as well wouldn’t be very good, seeing as they need to get into det pack range to operate with a mediocre weapon.

Maybe can assign AI.

Specific vehicle.
But OT34 will OP if add.

Actually flamethrower tanks would be ok in Normandy. The Sherman M4A1 (orA2, I don’t remember) was used with some success. It projected flame a bit over 100 yards so would have to work to get det packs close enough. If anyone is interested, there is a great 2 volume book called “D-Day Through German Eyes” by Holger Eckhertz that is a compilation of first person accounts of German soldiers defending Normandy in the days surrounding the landings. The victors write the histories, these stories from the other side are real eye-openers.

Both sides of each other are standing.
Germans and Americans are still those dreamers.
I found only sherman 1945 year.

i wasn’t aware of answering this thread because i thought op would have been reasonable enough to comprehend it from him self, but no.

anyway, no need to banther of course.

but as i said in other threads answering to this idea of your to introduce trains, it’s a no.

what i’m struggle to understand, is how hard it is for you to get it.

to dive deeply, i’ll make simple comparisons.

do you know why scout vehicles, armored vehicles and halftracks or usually something that is light and fast ( outside the bike apparently. but it has the same issue: ) are not here yet and probably will not arrive?

take a guess.
well, briefly it’s because the maps are Too Small. and those vehicles will travel too faster that in most scenarios would ( and will ) mainly used to spawn camp the adversary or used as mobile mg.

outside the fact that scout vehicles does not require railroads to move in the first place. and second, they are much cheaper to produce in term of vehicle developing and coding. resulting in being much, much “”“cheap”"" than armored trains.

which, once more, it would require entire new maps or modify the existing one to accomodate trains.

which if it wasn’t enough, tell me how effective would it be when people can simply cas it and would be even hard to miss tbh for the newest player as well.

or on the other hand, bring hell for infantry that has no at guns.
( or can be easely destroyed by placing mines on the railroads. and therefore being useless )

the pak 36 over moscow barely even pen half of the german tanks, let alone an armored train .

and last but not least, trains are simply out of place.
just like the jumbo and the m24 id’say, but in a different manner.

when it comes to flame tanks, well, this one could be a bit better if properly balanced ( such as making the flametrhower just like normal machinegun, through clips. )

or, if you really want to ( but i highly doubt ) it’s using strange and unbalancable vehicles ( such as sturmtigers, flame tanks, light armored vehicles and even fighter jets in PVE matches. would basically work like any normal PVE missions from 80% of games out there ( such as do task, break through, counterattack, defend and yada yada yada in dynamic missions )

but again, i highly doubt we’ll ever get PVE when the core system of this game ( PVP ) it’s already hardly thought out.

In principle, I agree with everything said.
It’s expensive, and the maps don’t fit.

But it could make the game more unique, how many games with armored trains were there about the Second World War?

So far I have a couple of ideas.

  1. An armored train can be a target in the destruction mode.

2.Can be used as an additional objective.

3.PvE

  1. When large maps are added, AT can look normal.

I will still agitation for armored trains. Thanks for so long reply.

Well well well, about the train…
