What do we know about paratroopers so far?

I do not know all that much about them yet. I know they can not spawn in the grey zones, but there are so many questions left to ask.

What weapons can they take?

What classes can be in their squad?

How far out can we see their planes?

If anyone knows information, share it here so people can easily find it.

They drop in with SMG/automatic rifle and an ammo crate. After landing they can grab MG, AT weapons, or an engineer hammer from that ammo crate.

The American drop in with M1928A1 Thompson, 100 rounds drum mag. The German get a prototype automatic rifle made by Krieghoff, 20 rounds box mag.

I wonder how that will work - will it be possible to choose equipment for every para, or will they be pre-determined, like current event squads with 1 engie, 1 AT gunner and rest basic soldiers?

I also wonder how paras will work in custom lone fighter mode - imagine 50 huge transport planes each dropping one lone dude.

That is the premium version specifically, right? I suppose the free to play versions will have SMGs as well, but I wonder if they also get the crate of goodies.

They never said that is for premium squad only.

Cool.

I’ve compiled answers from the helpers togheter with the information from the news topic:.

New soldier class: Paratroopers
Premium Squad Size: 6

Paratrooper are universal or versatile soldiers - It means they can handle any infantry weapons presented and can do multiple tasks (AT/MG/ENG)

  • You choose your own landing point from the soldier’s respawn window.

  • You can choose any landing point in the combat zone.

  • The transport plane will immediately fly to the point — and you are already inside.

  • Landing will happen automatically when you reach the specified point — or you can do it at your order, unscheduled.

  • Paratroopers can’t be deployed in the grey zone. If you end up in grey zone you’ll be teleported back to default spawn

  • The transport aircrafts (Ju-52 and C-47A) is AI-controlled

  • The aircrafts appearance will not be notified as an enemy air raid

  • Each soldier in the squad is initially armed with a light assault weapon. But that’s only up to a successful landing.

  • Along with the squad, there is a supply box dropped from the transport, where your paratroopers can grab much heavier guns, such as machine guns or anti-tank weapons.

  • Paratroopers can also grab an engineering hammer that will allow you to build large-caliber stationary machine guns, for example.

More questions I have:

Will the supply box drops where you initially target your landing point?

Since paratroopers depict as universal (or versatile in russian) Will the supply box also contain a radio and medical supplies?

Will you be able to customize the supply box before battle?

After landing, will the trooper drops his parachute and be able to equip someting else in that slot (like an ammo pouch)?

To my understanding you get to chose your own landing point. But this might be problematic on city map when they can get hammers to build rallys on/next to the roof of objectives. These rallies would be nearly imposible to fully clear out without paras of your own.

Building rally on a roof will bring more cons than pros because AI will usually stuck on those place. You need to manually let them jump down the place which is a very annoying process.

How will vehicles work?

Presumably same as now?

Will planes be able to kill the transports, or AA for that matter?

is parachute immune from enemy fire ? and what about paratrooper , is he also immune during landing ? or we shall observe a paraslaughter where paratroops cant land far enough from active battlezone ?

I am not sure what this line means. It sounds like you are just immediately on the ground and do not have to para shoot down. Or did you mean jumping is automatic?

It was copy pasted from the news letter.

I guess it means this:
When the plane approach that airspace close to your choosed destination the paratroopers will automatically jump out.

But you could also force them to jump manually before that certain time.

dope.

they might be worth the money afterall.

The magazine looks a lot longer than the regular FG-42 magazine. I couldn’t find anything about the Krieghoff FG online so I don’t know if it’s supposed to be a single stack like the Johnson LMG or what.

The only thing I found that mentioned the magazine capacity is from here

https://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Krieghoff_Paratrooper_Rifle

so I went with that, but I’m not so sure as you’ve mentioned the box mag looks larger than the FG 42 M20-42, 20 rounds magazine.

Maybe it have the capacity of 30 rounds as required by the initial design specification of the FG

Mmmmh i think i will wait until they realese the paras, i really want to buy the pack but is really risky, too many questions, are they going to be really OP? Or just useless? Nice ideas but a lot of questions…

Other than wanting to get a profile pic and a name-decorator (not worth it anyway), there’s really no point in buying it now, rather than when the update drops and you get to see how they really are.

Interesting, that could explain it. I guess we will find out soon.

My question is once you have dropped your Paras set up forward rally, can they be deployed on the ground as per normal troops, or do they need to redeploy in air once again?
