Just use IL-2. It’s an extremely versatile aircraft.
The other planes are there for you just in case you get tired/bored of it.

Depends what you’re after, how many slots you have
The rocket IL is decent, but kinda slow and unwieldy
Even though its a fighter, the P40 usually is my go to option anyway
Yak9k is the best for killing exposed rallies, APCs, engineering constructions and obviously tanks. Won’t help much with infantry blobs but nowadays I mostly care about mopping up vehicles anyway

For BR 2 honestly the Su-2 is amazing and is really slept on for no real reason, I unironically think its better than the il2, only thing the il2 has over it is its cannons.
Pe-2 is also great for BR 3

Clearly bonkers/out of hand in Warthunder and got brought here in the same month.
Aparantly no such ammo used beyond testing, but i havent looked into it.

Pe-3 and A-20 are trash compare to these
I use the Su-2 and the P40 in both level 2 and 3 and have great results with both. Out of all my level 2 or 3 dive bombers, I think the Su-2 is the best, at least for me, even over the Stuka, and I like the Stuka.

Soviets overall doesn’t have many bad planes, quite the opposite. The bad planes are exceptions.
But then, it’s all about your personal preferences. I proposed IL-2 to him as think it’s the most versatile one.

Il-2 (the first one) is bullet proof. Is Still in my BR 5 line up because its basically a fighter

I don’t use it in BR5 because all it’s armaments are just too light…but yeah, that’s the reason I prefer it over the Su-2
You can take it and just circle the battlefield and pound the ground over and over and over and over and over before you have to go reload again
And you can most probably beat enemy planes easily while you’re at it
Yeah, it’s all just preference. I have tried both, but since I have had good luck with the Su-2 I keep using it, and up until DF released the level 5 bomber, I used the Su-2 in level 5.

Thats true, main reason I take the Su-2 apart from it being super manoeuvrable, is that I really just aint a fan of rockets when bombs are just so much better, its far too niche a scenario where youd want rockets over bombs, and even then MGs tend to work good enough till you get close enough for bombs.
