Well? Hispanos fixed really, feedback below

Please try them out and confirm plane and campaign if you can. Is is just Tempest or Spitfires too?

Tempest had a change specific to it:
Replaced the ball shell with a AP-T shell, now the ammo composition is HE-I/HE-I/AP-T/T.
Otherwise, the fix affects all planes with hispanos.

idk, I used the Boomerang an hour or so ago and it did not seem any different, but I have come to expect the 303’s to be as over modeled as always and more effective, so… I probably need more time in it to be able to tell for sure.

Replacing a practice shell in the belt with an armour piercing shell is different to fixing the bug of HE shells not fragmenting (Which is what the news post says has been done). This does not increase the weapon’s effectiveness against aircraft so no wonder there’s no difference. Hispanos are still bugged until the problem with fragmentation is fixed. The placebo effect doesn’t work here, we know.

It was fixed, there was a parameter that lowered the amount of fragments to 2/3, now it’s removed.
I just mentioned the ammo change for the Tempest since the player asked if it’s just the Tempest or Spitfires.

So is it fixed or not? I’m not at the computer

Just tried it. No noticable difference. Still bugged. Tempest in Normandy. Shooting a 188. About 2-3 seconds of fire into the tail section then 5-6 seconds into both wings due to convergence at close range, starting just inside the engines and working outward. Many black puffs resulting only in smoke coming from both wings. 188 was able to re-arm and drop again before suiciding.

The hits to the tail section alone from 4x20mm cannons should have been enough to disintegrate the bomber. After emptying my guns into it there should not have been anything left but shrapnel.

See what it looks like in a replay.

When use tempest I can empty the ammo into another plane seeing black puffs and basically never kill the plane (before this patch which I have not tested). If I then watch in replay it looks like I missed and was always a bit behind. As soon as I jump into a different plane, even in the same match, this is not the case. In game is good, in replay is good.

This has been reported in the bug reports. I’m interested to see if this fix helps for me as the plane is completely useless up until now.

Sorry to say I have not been able to try the cannons because I have been very ill the last week.
No gaming for me. :face_with_thermometer:

Do we have any specs here on forums what kind of shells are being loaded into the planes?

Replays just don’t make sense watching the Tempest. It seems first of all that the tracers are a standalone effect. Because if you pause, they will not freeze.

And if you hit the plane most likely the tracers will continue it’s trajectory like nothing.

What do you guys make of this? @WidowMakerUk73 @Brrady @112687200 @Cleetus_WA @_WARHEAD

Here’s a clip since the update: Couldn’t take out a single bomber with my Tempest.

And from the very same battle I had no problem to take out all bombers with a P47.

I know I’m a shitty pilot but I never have any problems taking out these bombers with other fighters (and p47 apparently).

Looks familiar. That’s the same basic test I keep doing.

I use the Tempest and accomplish nothing then jump in any other plane (e.g. P47) and have no problem shooting down planes.

I only played one or two matches in the past 24h to try the tempest. I was able to shoot down an opponent so I believe some improvement was made but I still think there’s something very wrong. This thing should shred other planes in a quick burst.

I do have it on my sheet in the Planes tab. I still have a few planes to add to it but the ammo used should be up to date.

I can support this. Yesterday I was unable to significantly damage japanese aircraft with my boomerang and his mk. II hispanos. (Until I ran out of ammunition)
I had to shot it down with MGs then.

From my experience, even ShKAS machine guns on premium I-16 are more effective. Its kinda sad.

No joke, I think the biplanes in Moscow are more capable as fighters.

How you do know it? Where do you get that specs from? May I get link to it?

I still need to fly a few more missions, but at this stage I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in Tempest, Beaufighter, Mosquito, or Spitfire Vc. There still appears to be no penetration either, even with the change to the Tempest belting (I didn’t get a lot of shots on suitable targets though). Even ball ammunition should be able to penetrate the sides and top of the AB41 out to about 400 metres, but I have yet to have this happen. Oddly enough the AN/M2 cannon on the P38 in Tunisia does seem to penetrate, and given this is just a rebranded Hispano, it makes no sense to me…

I am also confused why the belting on the Tempest would be changed, but not the belting on the fighter/bomber variants in Tunisia, where ground attack is their primary role.

Havent flown my tempesr for a while. It was definitely underperforming (cannon wise). It was still capable of killing but needed way too much ammunition /hits

Sad to hear its still struggletown.
