I don’t even know how to classify it, whether it’s a bug or not. Anyway, the AI has been doing this weird yolo run for some time now, trying to run into enemies from far distances. Check out the video below, I didn’t give any orders or anything, the AI just started charging on its own. It often happens that I switch to another AI only to find that it’s in a completely different part of the map leading its assault. Have you experienced the same?
Ah yeah, the infamous AI banzai charge.
It happens quite a bit. I have no idea why though. Some AI just want to die, I guess.
Yes since one or two major updates, my bots starts to frequently run toward the enemy for no apparent reason.
Imo this is beacause they got shot/hit by explosives and want to return fire, but the individual that damaged them is out of sight so they decide to take it personally and chase them.
This is honestly annoying
Giving them a new order will cancel this.
Sometimes when i play attacker on bot only custom match the entire defending bot team charges at the attackers instead of staying on the point. It caught me off guard many times
This is probably the hidden mechanics of soldiers’ panic, the more stressful they are in a situation, the more likely they are to get out of control and attack without paying attention to the commander.
it’s usually jsut one guy that is extra aggro, runs off on it’s own into weird areas, I’ve even seen them waste med kits before being downed (which is annoying since my entire build is about second wind)
Sometimes I have a single guy just run like two buildings over on his own
I was annoyed by it until I saw one of my AI squad notice a muzzle flash in a window, and then haul ass into the building, up the stairs, to shoot the lone player in the back.
I think the AI is generally in a really good spot now. They have some believable independent thought. They form up together much more sensibly with the terrain. They even respond to threats at a reasonable speed that is neither frustratingly useless slow or ridiculous aimbot snapping. They even have some short term memory of threats as well.
