Weekend "Historical" Battles #2: Complete idea and Tunisia update

First things first, I’ve shaped idea of the mode to the final result:
“Historical battles” is an infantry-based mode with predefined squads equipped with most common equipment, yet unique for each campaign, in near-historical proportions.

Brief description for each campaign:

  1. Moscow (Dec-Jan 41) (USSR vs Germany):
    Main firearms: M1891/30 vs Kar98k (and pre-war mod)
    Additional firearms: PPD-40 and SVT-40, 1 DP-27 vs MP40 and MG34
    Equipment: PTRD, TT, F-1 and Molotovs vs Luger, M24 and Explosive pack
    Tanks: T-26 (T-34 would dominate) vs Pz. III J
    Additionally: radio operators can call only artillery strikes

  2. Tunisia (Britain vs Italy (germans and americans got lost somewhere in the desert)):
    Main firearms: Enfield No.1 Mk.III (and No.4 Mk.I) vs Carcano M38 (and M41)
    Additional firearms: STEN Mk.II, M1928A1, Bren, Boys ATR Vs Beretta 38, Breda 30?
    Equipment: No. 2 (Revolver) vs Beretta M1934. Both sides have HEs, ATGs and TNT charges
    Tanks: Crusader Mk II vs M 14/41
    Planes: Spitfire Mk Vb/trop vs C. 202EC
    Additionally: radio operators can call only artillery strikes and bomber runs

I like those.

I’d probably give somme tommies (first ones) to Brits because beretta m38… that thing is one of the best smg in game (beretta m1 instead?)

As for planes… I don’t see how to balance those… last big update plane values changed so much that any allies plane in Tunisia is end tier, even starter hurricane :thinking:

Woops I didn’t see the BAR, it balances out :sweat_smile:

Hurricane now shreds the c202, even as a starter plane… devs bootsed it’s turning ability in an impossible way.

However, in a first engagement, the c202 got a lot of good guns, it can succeed… but if it misses it’s first “zoom” it cannot even “boom” away as it’s not much faster than Hurricane and is now abysmal at turning.

Yeah, I don’t know what devs were thinking by tweaking those specs so much :thinking:

Main role of fighters in this battle is to take down bomber runs, so I don’t think that they should be perfectly balanced.

I suggest adding the Walther P38 for the Germans, as it was a pistol just as common as the P08 ‘Luger’ in the Wehrmacht.

I don’t like giving BARs to the British. First, they weren’t historically equipped in that way. Second, I don’t see them necessary for balance. The Beretta M38 in my opinion would be somewhat balanced off by British rifles, which have a larger ammo capacity. Third, I think not many people will prefer the Bren if they have access to the BAR.

Where did you see BAR?
There is only STEN, Thompson, Bren and Boys
BAR probably would be in Pacific

In Stalingrad or Berlin
