Weapons' attachments

Rifle grenade launchers is what inspired me to do this post.

In my opinion the way they operate is great and it should be extended.
Mainly “transformation” of your gun by presing “U” key, is a thing that can (and should in my opinion) be extended to other wepons / attachments.
Examples:

  • bayonets
Bayonets are already used in the same slot in terms of equipment, but they are permanently fixed.
In my opinion it would be much… maybe not better but certainly cooler if you could attach bayonets yourself by pressing “U”. Additionally you would also shout an order like “fix bayonets” and whole your squad would fix their bayonets (if available) with you.

If we will ever get weapon collision mechanic it may become a useful feature.

  • scopes

An option to detatch and attatch scope.
I won’t lie, I have no idea about snipers and their equipment so it’s more of a “it’s possible to add it” rather than a suggestion to add it.

  • stocks
Some weapons (like MP40 or M3 grease gun) have foldable stocks, “U” key might be used to fold them.
Currently it would be purley cosmetic but like in case of bayonets it may become useful if weapon collision mechanic will be implemented.

  • magaznies and bullets (if they will get implemented)
“U” key can be used to switch between different kinds of magazines or bullets.
For example M1919A6 can have 50 round belt as standard, that can be changed to 100 round belt if needed. As a tradeoff it would cause you to move slower so you can’t run and gun with 100 rounds. You would have to equipp ammo box to do this. [EDIT] Or it could prevent you from ADS but I don’t think it fits current gameplay.

    Kind of thing.

You get the idea so if you have other simmilar ideas plz share them.

If they implemented collision models, folding your stock might actually have use outside of just making your look like a baller.

Interesting suggestion, always nice to see good suggestion with no REEEEEEE inside them :slightly_smiling_face:

There has been a response in a dev Q&A that mentioned weapon attachments are being examined. The game is still in its early stages so it might not appear very soon, but the devs are aware of the potential. I agree that it would be a cool feature.

I’d suggest a big belt of ammo for the belt fed preclude ADS entirely if you aren’t using a bipod.

I was thinking about it, but I don’t know if it would suit current gameplay.
Personally I would like that.

I was also thinking about higher malfunction chance if you use longer belt and move too much. But they were removed so it’s out of question.

Or follow Day of Defeat and have crazy high recoil if you aren’t using a bipod

It’s alreay a thing (kind of).
We are talking about the difference between large ammo belt and small belt. So that using 100 or 250 ammo belt isn’t pure upgrade with no downsides.

Yeah I’m into that, like TF2, sidegrades rather than upgrades. I guess it doesn’t make too much sense from a historical perspective, but balance has to come before accuracy sometimes

i’d be fine twith that. LMGs are too effective at assaulting rn anyway. They play exactly like assaulter squads, which is a shame

Yeah, my BAR squad is amazing, I just wipe the floor with it. I know I’d not be happy if it got nerfed to hell because it’s so fun to play, but it is really really good.

That being said, I think some distinction should be made between a squad assault weapon and a machine gun. Tap firing the BAR should still be feasible, which I guess is where the select fire comes in kinda.

BAR is an automatic rifle and was designed to be fired unsupported.

I have both BAR prem squads and I wouldn’t care if they upped the recoil across the board.

Using BAR as assault rifle isn’t that problematic. It was designed for things like that.
Running around and hip firing MG42 is much bigger problem.

For sure. Like it’s ok to put 10 shots into a guy that’s within stabbing distance but much more than that is a bit silly.

I like it, but as a hunter and someone who has done PRS(precision rifle shooting) for fun I would have to say no on the detachable scope. You can remove scopes with special scope mounts (looking at you Blaser 500 dollar scope mount) but doing so with normal scope mounts requires screwdrivers or the like. Accuracy will also be totally messed up because a miniscule change when mounting them again will make you miss a 30 cm target at 100 meters. In WW2 you did not remove the scope unless it was broken, it could be done on some models with quick detachment, but there is always a risk that your zero will be bad.:slightly_smiling_face:

currently you can only remove them in the soldier management screen.

Yes as it should be. But bayonets, bigger boxes for mgs and such. I like that :slightly_smiling_face:
