A recent thread (What is the point of "Reserves" now?) pointed out the uselessness of the perk of the Reserve soldier, a relic of the old bronze soldier order system.
I would like to propose a this perk replacement :
For the moment there is no point of picking low tier weapon (like bolt action rifle) when you have more advanced weapons (like semi-auto).
It result in a disparition of the most popular weapon used during WW2 to go for the “Meta”
With this perk, it could be usefull to go for low tier weapons to give the an accuracy boost to the AI of your squad, and create a little more diversity than just using the most OP weapons. ex: Your squad got research upgrade for the Sten, this Perk will boost the accuracy of the AI Sten user of your squad.
The AI soldiers accuracy right now is fake lol.
They always miss first shot if they are shooting at something not 2m in front of them.
Then they headshot You in second or thrid shot if You crouch or lie down.
Thats why they are best with automatic guns, that gets them to that second lethat shot faster.
Try custom conquest map and send mg squad to hold a point, the aimbot is real.
On the squad perk (blue), you increase the squad (your squad got extra men, extra specialist, extra exp…) (cf “Extra accuracy”)
The player is not involved here.
It a buff for your squad, not your player.
In red it’s a buff for you soldier rank (it doesn’t matter if he is in this precise squad, it affect all “Engineer I” the same way)
Yellow is weapon.
My proposition of buffing the squad is definitly “blue”
Increasing accuracy or reducing dispersion, for bots are the same thing…
Dispersion is a weapon stat. Perk that upgrade your weapon are in yellow.
We need a blue perk: “A perk that upgrade your squad”
Therefor we need a perk that upgrade your squad, not the player. That’s why i proposed to be “for AI only”. The accuracy of the AI trained with the specific squad weapon:
That’s the “not 2m in front of them” part, if You are close and they heard you, they are more deadly since that patch.
There is no rng on longer ranges, they never hit You first time. Try shooting at bot team from 50m, they start dancing and shooting at You, but first shots miss. That’s the cue to get cover or hide.
If a player is sniping in a building, he will never turn around when you shoot him from the stairs. They are braind dead, focus on the ennemy 200m away.
The AI do it, they will focus on you.
Have you never been OS in plane by a bolt action AI?
Have You seen how many bots aim at sky, and how many shots they actually fire before hitting?
And to first point idk why You think i said something diffrent from You. Bots at close range, are bats, if they hear You, they 180 no scope You in 0.01s. Just use melee in that range, they won’t even shot at You for long enaugh to axe whole team.
The reserve perk is useless, but this replacement would be just as much
But i think they would be better of improving their positioning, pathing, and suicidal behavior first instead of better rng chances to hit.
More commands that they actually follow, covering fire, throwing granades (even just somkes for start), having them actually build stuff you make blueprint for instead of waiting for command that won’t work half the time.
The perk tree needs overhaul anyway, as weapon scrapping bonus will be useless soon, same with reserve
Improving the AI via perk seems like a misstep.
I would prefer if the perk was mad something like an xp share to other active squads or something, like 5% of the xp per perk also goes to other active squads (Helping level your squads) would help level up squads that under perform.
If you have a ton of semiautos, you probably also have the squads the semi autos came with. I struggle to see how this would help anything, honestly. It would just give some arbitrary weapons and squads a small boost, and give an actually quite significant boost to most high tier smg and lmg squads. I don’t think PPSHs need 12% less dispersion on the squad most likely to use them.
